August 17th is black cat appreciation day. Black cats are beautiful fluffy clouds of darkness and our little home panthers. However, they are not always as lucky as they are beautiful. For some weird reason many people avoid adopting black cats and dogs (Black Dog Day is Oct 1st). Many of them are homeless and many of them stay in shelters longer than their friends of other or mixed colors.
Prior to Halloween there is a peak in black cats adoption in the shelters just to have a few days later an increased number of homeless (abandoned) or given back black cats and kittens. Black cats deserve better than being just a Halloween decoration or a 'bad luck' everyone avoids except for goths and true 'crazy' cat ladies and gents.
For that reason it is important to rise awareness that back cats
- are cute
- are good luck
- are perfect choice if you often wear black (or any other color of clothes)
- don't mind your hair color
- have golden or amber eyes most often
- are yours forever friends
- are domestic little panthers
- are fluffy clouds of darkness
- are more often male than females (unlike calico cats)
- due to more dominant genes they are quite resistant
......
- they are just purrfect!
As a sign of black cats appreciation, we are having a few events going on at the same time but for a one day only! Of course, praise black cats every day for eternity but today you are called to show us your appreciation for them. You can do that in a few ways:
- If you have a black cat or more of them, share your story
- You can also share pics of your black kitties
- If you love black kitties, dress like one and show us your outfit
- You can do any two or three from above as well
- Participate in a mini IG game (first 5 with the correct answer will get the prize)
- Or, tag 5 of your friends ^^ in the comment of the same post
