I love to see vintage clothes. I enjoy wandering around thrift stores for this reason. I can't wear them though.
Many of the clothes I see would be something my mother would have worn when I was a child. For me, it is good memories of a simple time of life. This may sound odd, but as cute as I find the fashion, to put it on makes me feel old too. I'm totally silly like that. Let me try to explain:
When your young, you want to look older. Fashion and make-up is every little girls dream. ( To be a grown-up ) As you grow older, and the years pass by, you want to look younger. Make-up remains a constant, but styles of clothes change with time. Now I'm in my 40's and am drawn to very modern styles. Not ones made for my age however. I buy silly things you would only see a high school girl even dare to wear if her parents would even allow it. In a way, I'm giving myself a second childhood with the fashions I choose to wear. I have been blessed with very healthy skin, beautiful very long slightly curly blond hair, and piercing very light green eyes that change colors, to deep hues of blue with the colors I am wearing. and a very thin body, so I can still make mini-skirts work towards my advantage.
This will not last forever, and it pains me to admit that. So what the hell... I'll shop right next to the teens, in the trendy stores. Older women may think I'm acting ridiculous. My own younger sister tells me to act my age. Of course she is just jealous.
Younger girls even may think the same thing having a grandmother in the changing rooms putting on clothes that they don't have the self- confidence to wear. However the men only see my shape, and this intrigues them. How many 40+ women get hit on by 18 year old boys?
I don't think that could be very many, but I am and it makes me have a very positive self-image and pride of my body. Is it the Clothes?
I think so, because I hardly use any make-up at all. Some eyeliner, and some blush, and that is about it. Life is to short to rush growing up, and spend the rest of your life wishing you were young again. There is plenty of time to grow old in a grave.
Use what you GOT right now in the present, because everything will change tomorrow. (That could be my personal motto. and style)

My style changes so often, but currently it's a mix of punk, ravewear, and the 50's. It sounds like a weird combonation, but it can work xDsounds cool :)
