What’s better than the smells of corn dogs and funnel cakes filling the air while riding the spinning cars or while trying to win a teddy bear at the ring toss? It’s the ideal way to close out the summer season! Don’t forget to say hello to the carnies while you’re there!
Balletcore
Feel the hyperfem fantasy of the ballerinas with balletcore. Whether ur performing in satin, lace, and tulle or practicing in soft knitwear, spandex, and chiffon; ribbons, ballet shoes, and tutus are a must. White, black, pale pink, and grey appear frequently. So grab ur leg warmers and dance bag and head over to the studio.
Scream Queens
Horror movies have been taking center stage this year with a handful of anticipated movies like Longlegs, Maxxxine, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and A Quiet Place 2. Along with the deeply unfortunate passing of Shelley Duvall this month, I want to celebrate some iconic scream queens. From movies with glamorous actresses turned blood thirsty monsters like Jennifer’s body or Gingersnaps to newer icons like Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega. Take inspiration from any horror movie, it can be the final girl, the villain, or the one slowly losing their mind (ex: hereditary, midsommar, talk to me). Horror video games and classic 80s horror can be inspiration as well!
Boogie the Night Away!
Get ready to groove and glitter! Step into the dazzling world of 1970s disco where the dance floor lights up with shimmering reflections and the beat of funk and soul fills the air. This theme invites you to unleash the inner disco diva with outfits that scream retro chic. Think sparkling sequins, flashy metallics, and groovy bell-bottoms that shimmer under the disco ball. From flashy jumpsuits to funky flares, each creation should channel the spirit of Studio 54 and the wild nights of disco dancing. Complete the look with bold accessories like platform shoes, oversized shades, and disco-era bling, because here it's all about fun, freedom, and fabulous fashion!
Utopia x Dystopia
We are travelling into the future, with digital and cyber apparatus advancing very quickly and becoming more integral to daily life every day. Many are optimistic about the future, but many are pessimistic. Will you choose a good future or a bad one?
Here are styles you can research in order to build your outfit:
Dystopia: cyberpunk, atom punk, post-apocalyptic, lunarcore, darkwear, cybergoth, rivethead.
Utopia: cybercore, transhumanism, frutiger aero, tenshi kaiwai, y2k futurism, space age.
Bingo Night
Who came up with the idea that after sixty you can’t go to the club for a night out with the girls? The atmosphere may have changed, trading neon lights for display boards and sharing cigarettes instead of popping bottles, but we still have the same goal in mind. I’m not talking about winning big. The real prize in the bingo hall isn’t the cash out at the end of the night, but the budding situationship between you and the wealthy widow/widower you have been eyeing all evening. Who knows- maybe you two will schedule a date for the early-bird special at the country buffet tomorrow and talk about spending a weekend at their timeshare in Miami. Just make sure you tell them you need to make it back in time for bingo next Saturday. You have a good feeling that troll doll is actually going to work this time- you just know it! Get all dolled up for the social event of the nursing facility with your favorite knitwear, coke bottle glasses, and greying hair. The party doesn’t stop just because you’ve gotten older.
