Welcome to "Friction & Fabric"! I am your host, the one and only LoveSoldier!
Friction & Fabric will spotlight users whose outfits and style are next level, put together layer by layer and instinct by instinct. Here, fashion is a process, a reflection of being and the ultimate form of self-expression; the users interviewed will not only walk us through their outfit-making process but give their own insight on the current state of fashion here on the XL Forum.
Join us today for our first, exclusive interview with mbbybbby, who graciously agreed to an interview in these dire times!

When I met with mbbybbby for this interview, it was in the midst of the ‘Great Nullification’ or ’04/25 State Wars hacking’ incident, wherein Many users had their outfits vandalised in the name of exposing security risks in the sites code. She arrived in the 2022 Greek-style gown in white from Melpomene’s advent collection, styled in a regal yet angelic way. When we headed into the studio, she sighed, slowly removing her luscious white wig to reveal the orangey-yellow hair several members of the site were inflicted with, the purple undertones of the tattooed on lipstick partially visible through her nude lip.
I asked her ‘are you sure’ and ‘will you be safe’ at least a thousand times before conducting the interview, for several members of the site had been getting thrown into the over-capacity jail cells (primarily cell 1984) including those of a similar rank to herself. She shook her head with a smile, whispering “it’s for the good of all things Ximboland,” remarking how poor morale was in Freethinkerland following their loss in State wars, despite being in the lead for the majority of the event, mbbybbby herself being the top State Warrior prior to the Nullification.
We took a moment to get settled before the interview begun.
Hello! Thank you for agreeing to this! Could you please introduce yourself to the readers
“I’m happy to be here! My name is Maddy, or mbbybbby, or mbby. I am the current State Minister for Freethinkerland!”
She waved with a friendly smile, shifting in her seat. The seats here are not very comfortable, unfortunately, our budget was cut ever since the Minister of Fashion was executed, our primarily benefactor.
Welcome to Friction & Fabric! to start off with, how long have you been on the site/making outfits on here?
“I have been on the site since May of 2024. Almost a year at this point!”
Readers should note how impressive Maddy’s legacy has been on the site. Despite only having joined in May of 2024 (a month before I did), She’s currently the 23rd sexiest person on the site, a State minister, top State warrior, the 75th most reputable user of all time and a CEO with all of her attributes being above 20,000, including Vanity, Superficiality and Fitness. This proves her dedication to the site, to making it a better place to be. Despite being a newer player, she beat out several of the legacy players on the site who have been around for far longer than she has.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations for your outfits? Can be real life models/designers or people on here.
It didn’t take long for her to name several people.
“For members of Ximboland, TokiKonoe is a HUGE one. I love how she makes her looks so glamorous and honestly, how overall talented she is. It’s like I’m thinking “I want to be like her when I grow up”. Another is reivalentine, I am such a huge fan of how she layers and uses her same iconic look across all of her outfits. I try to do the same with the same eye look and hair color across all of mine! I don’t have a specific designer that inspires me, but I am a big fan of Cher’s iconic 1970’s looks and that is where I draw a lot of inspiration from!”
To follow-up, do you have any specific XL designers whose items you frequently use in your outfits?
“I am ALWAYS using AlyssaMoon2.0’s designs. They all have such a glamorous feel that really feels like it suits my aesthetic I try to have for my ximbo. The hair, the makeup, its all just chef’s kiss.”
Whether it be for contests or for fun, how do you come up with an outfit? Are there specific places you go for inspiration (e.g. Pinterest, instagram)
Maddy hummed to herself before responding, unlocking her phone to show us her Pinterest boards.
“I am a big Pinterest girl! When I got started trying to make more outfits, I got stuck as well and many people directed me towards Pinterest and now I have boards that I am constantly going back to. I also just go on YouTube and watch music videos! I will usually take one item from an outfit and try to recreate it through layering and then go from there.”
Her boards were extensive and all-encompassing, had the nullification not have wiped many of the user bases outfits you would’ve easily been able to reflect upon the amount of time and research that went into each individual outfit, the many sources of inspiration she took from.
Are there any staple pieces you find yourself using in your outfits?
“DiscoDominatrix’s Glamor Eyes, AlyssaMoon2.0’s Jessica Eyes, and Xtina_723’s 60’s Lower Lashes are my eye makeup staples! For outfits, I usually will just look at whatever is newest in the shop. I try to switch it up and not use the same thing!”
We are not sponsored by any of these brands, however I can confirm the Xtine_723 ’60’s lower lashes’ are a great addition to any outfit if you need to make your eyes really pop, currently retailing at the low price of $100.
If you use digitals, what digitals do you frequently use?
“I typically use Bimbl6’s vignette’s and as of recently, I have been using Viscerae’s subtle overlays. I have also been incorporating more of Pollyx’s frames that she made for the Vday 2025 contests.”
Do you prefer to keep your outfits simple or accessorise to the max?
Maddy giggled to herself, shifting from side to side in her chair,
“I do like keeping things pretty simple! I want the pieces to speak for themselves, but I think that is because I am pretty generic and not a maximalist at ALL. It looks great on other ximbos but I just can’t bring myself to make something super accessorised! It’s not in my bones, sadly.”
What outfit do you usually display on your profile as your 'main' outfit and why?
“I will usually display my most recent contest submission, either for a forum contest or for PXFC, and other than that, I will usually display whichever is my favorite at that moment.”
Currently, the look Maddy is displaying is the aforementioned regal-angel look, inspired heavily by Ancient Greek fashion and deities.
While the interview was technically over, Maddy having taken us through the process of putting together a signature mbbybbby look, I had one final question for her regarding a very famous and well-known Ximbo.
What are your thoughts on Miss Bimbo’s current outfit?
Maddy looked around the room for additional cameras and microphones before answering, with espionage being rumoured to be at an all-time high she needed to protect herself from potential backlash.
“I really feel like Miss Bimbo could use some eyebrows! Something to help complement our dear leader’s face :) We have so many great items created by our fashion designers and workers that I think it would be a great idea for Miss Bimbo to start showing off the hard work of the fashion shop!”
With that, we bid each other farewell and our time together was up.

DESIGN SHOUTOUT
Every week, I would like to shout-out a particular design (or designer), either for how versatile and well-used the design is or for their status as an up-and-coming item. This week, Friction & Fabric would like to shoutout…
…The “nemuxo soft ruffle dress black” for only $1500.
The “nemuxo soft ruffle dress” comes in 14 colours, all for the low-low price of $1500 for citizens and $1350 for senators; I found myself drawn to the design as the ruffled sleeves were very Renaissance-Victorian, the dress itself having a very form-fitting bodice piece and an elegant lower half that’s truly jaw-dropping. Perfect for the fanciest of balls to your newest gothic look, the “nemuxo soft ruffle dress black” does it all.
