I'm always seeing people saying (let the other bimbo win) for their stances in the debates blah blah blah. And it's disappointing because I actually wanted to see a debate, not be forced to vote for a person who I may not agree with or just has a ridiculous stance. It's stupid... If you want to win the debate, ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE IN THE DEBATE, you better earn that. Period. Full stop. Stop doing these little popularity contests because they're honestly so annoying.

A little history on debates and achievements (badges) related to debates: In the past, like 1,5-2 years ago, there were much less players in BL than today.Sometimes it was like less than 100 people who are active on daily basis. It made some achievements very hard to accomplish simply because they are made to be dependent on interaction and not on a player alone (like some other achievements for which you don't really need other players). Having not so many active players made achievements related to debates very hard to achieve, even for players who spent a lot of time here and have been playing for years.
There are two debates badges - one is Mass debater and for that you have to win debates, the other one is Curious for which to achieve you have to be challenged by other players.
Mass debater was not too hard to achieve because simply, you can start challenge people and once you'll earn enough wins. But it was hard to get Curious, where other players need to challenge you.
In general, due that BL is fashion game, people pay more attentions to outfits fights. It means people used to voted much more in fights and to spend their tokens much more for fights than debates. It resulted in two things: sometimes there were like 50 pages of debates opened for days because most of people didn't vote in debates. Second and connected to the first, players lost interest in challenging others.
In order to get curious badge some players voluntarily decided to write 'vote for other person' and to sacrifice wins in order to have more challenges. It sort of helps both sides, those who are looking for mass debater badge can gain wins faster while at the same time helping the other side with challenges so they can get their curious badges.
Keep 5:4 ratio has a purpose to allow more people to vote and earn their tokens. Things changed, now we have a lot of active players,fights and especially debates don't get clogged for days, they close pretty fast, so many players don't even have a chance to vote and consequently to earn their tokens which they can then use for challenges and keep things moving on.
So it could be annoying sometimes but is helpful for many.
