meta is going to be adding ai accounts that with time will become indistinguishable from real people
the internet is already 60% bots, having social media having those bots pretend to be people in a realistic way is terrifying
that NEEDS to be regulated. that NEEDS required markers on it saying ai. because if you aren’t aware that the things you’re seeing on social media aren’t real people, they’re just a talking head for some company, that’s SCARY
we have ad disclosure laws for similar reasons. if donald trump is saying “I love fanta. fanta orange is the only soda you will EVER need. very good. very orange. so demure.” but the man has never drank fanta in his life, he HAS to disclose that fanta gave him 1.8 billion dollars to say that
if the government is about to pass something terrible in the laws and i go to social media to see what people ACTUALLY think about it and i see five hundred “people” that SEEM like real people saying “oh this is actually amazing !!” that’s SCARY
it’s gonna get to a point where the only way of figuring out if someone online is a real person is by discussing how to cook meth or kill yourself, because currently AI isn’t allowed to do that
but there’s not even a law saying that AI can’t do that, so even that will go away
