Well maybe evil was going too far but they can be selfish and annoying and not listen to you at times. Unless it's just my cat. On the plus side she doesn't go crazy when you pick her up or anything which is nice.

First of all humans are selfish all the time. That's like. Normal. That's basic survival, that doesn't stop us from forming social bonds, and neither is it stopping cats from doing the same. Our society has this delusion that thinking of yourself first is a crime because some dumb fuck 2000 years ago went way too hard on the humility train or something.

I'm not mad or offended at you, though maybe I sound like it. I just think there is this cultural perception about cats that stems from humans approaching cats and their opinions about cats in a stupid way.
Cats do annoying cat things like climb to places they shouldn't, drop and break things, come on your lap and bite you (why? Why must you???) Which is fine. It's just something that I as a cat owner accept as a Thing That Happens when you live with a cat.
