instead of doing any real meaningful coronavirus response my university just cancelled our spring break.. sigh.... i get that nobody wants frat boys to go to florida and spread disease but.. i need a break.. lemme see my family..please!!!

this is such a dumb thing to bitch about but it annoys me that nobody knows what kin/fictionkin/otherkin means anymore and its just this big joke now especially because back in the day when it was still niche people in the community were bullied to high fucking heaven about it
like i was in an undertalekin skype group and we had members as young as like 13 and a few 4chan chuds went through the entire application process (that we needed in the first place to prevent bullying) pretending to be normal friendly kinnies and once they were added to the group they spammed irl gore and racial slurs until everyone left and the server never recovered. and stuff like that happening wasnt even that uncommon. that was the more extreme end of the bullying and harassment but it was incredibly common for people to make entire blogs dedicated to bullying kinnies and reblogging their posts to shit on them and screenshotting their blogs and encouraging people to go harass them when it was like majority teenagers and mentally ill people.
and now i see the same bitches who are like "cringe culture is dead xoxo" making the same dumb jokes with kinnies as a punchline over and over, and people who act like kin is just the same thing as like relating to a character when thats not what it is and never what it was. a few years ago some people i was in a server with said they were kin and i was like omg me too and i started talking about it and once i talked about it they acted like i was fucking crazy bc i was serious about it and used it as a coping mechanism for my mental illness and they just did it for fun and their kintypes were characters they liked.
i havent engaged with the community in years because of experiences like that. back in the day we had to be so careful and cautious so we wouldnt get literally harassed and doxxed and now to see people doing this shit is just really really frustrating. ugh.

while i'm complaining about stupid shit the slipknot masks in the shop aren't named correctly (one of the members is literally called clown and his mask has a nose and everything and the mask labeled creepy clown isnt his??) but i dont wanna bother the shop workers and be like hey can you change this very specific niche thing that probably 3 other people have noticed
We need to stop saying music based subcultures are ONLY about music and the rest doesn't matter. There is meaning behind the politics and clothing as well but everyone just makes it about music because that's the main part of the subculture
