Mixed feelings, Immortality, darling.
I can relate. Although I didn't spend one thousand of my country's currency, it was at least 200, maybe 250, which is a lot for me to spend on clothes. There was a rush initially.

Now, there is something else. Regret or remorse perhaps. There is doubt that I needed those clothes. There are thought of returning them. Etc.

Yes!
I tend to wear clothes for years. I didn't buy new summer clothes this year, for example. This recent purchase was the first clothes purchase in about 6 months. 6 or 7 months ago, I bought used polos at a thrift store because I had a retail job that required polos for the uniform.

My recent purchase was mostly because of 2 things: clothes getting old & worn (like jeans that are likely 10+ years old finally ripping). I literally bought basics: a pair of dark wash jeans, a black sweater, etc.

But I still feel guilty... especially because I used to thrift shop more.

i'm honestly addicted to thrift shopping lol. it lets me feel that "oooh this is such a good find" rush without feeling that bad about how much i spend or contributing to fast fashion.
i buy a lot of things in general, and i feel pretty guilty about that. i look up to people who are able to be satisfied with what they have. i guess thats my toxic trait lmao

it's definitely more sustainable to make clothes last than to go through a lot of clothes in a short period of time, even if they're from thrift stores! i know that doesn't always stop the guilt but that's one of the things i try and remind myself lol

I wonder whether to maintain a relationship with my family. on the one hand, family is family ... but the further I am, the better my life is. I'm sad

i personally don’t believe in the whole sticking with your family because they’re blood no matter what. families can be toxic. if distancing yourself from your family is better for your wellbeing, then that’s important. you don’t have to completely cut ties, but instead set firm boundaries and make less contact.

I agree with PeeSlurper69 that families can be toxic. I absolutely believe that it can be beneficial to distance yourself from your family.
My first full-time job was 45 minutes to an hour (depending on traffic) from my mum's house. Mum suggested I continue to live at home. I refused. I literally moved into an apartment Saturday & started work Sunday. I could have gone home every weekend to do laundry, get a home-cooked meal, etc. But I didn't because my mum is toxic.

I think the last time I saw my mum was in August. I don't currently have plans to see her and I may not go home for the winter holidays. It helps that there's a pandemic & I work with the elderly. My mum not had 1 dose of the vaccine, etc.  Not to mention, it's a 3+ hour drive. So, I have plenty of excuses to keep my distance without saying to her, "You may my mental health worse."
