i'm having a hard time distinguishing what my gender identity is in relation to how i want to express myself. i'm afab and id as a lesbian, but i've always felt that common disconnect with femininity. i dress generally masc and have short hair, but i'm not repulsed by the idea of presenting as feminine. idk if what i'm feeling is signs that i might not id as a woman, or if it's just how i like to dress and present myself.

i’m sorry i don’t want to start any discourse but internalised biphobia is something bisexual people experience. also just out of curiosity, what would be the distinction between bisexuality and pansexuality to you?

No worries at all, I'm always open to discussion as I feel like I have so much more to learn in my ever-evolving understanding of not just my own sexuality, but sexuality in general. Personally, what I always found difficult with identifying as bisexual was that it seemed like a very definite thing, a commitment to being equally attracted to all genders - whereas I recognise my sexuality as being somewhat more fluid than this. I often focus more on the person, rather than on whether they are male or female, or non-binary for that matter. I'm also aware that bisexuality doesn't inherently exclude transgender or nonbinary people.

My internalised biphobia came from a place of being worried that I couldn't identify, or be accepted as bisexual because I find myself more often than not attracted to those of the opposite gender (in my case men), but that didn't sit right with me as I've had many romantic and sexual relationships with women and non-binary people. I found that identifying as pansexual has helped me understand where I'm at with my sexuality more easily. But I am aware that there is space for me in the bisexual category, it's just one that I have difficulty identifying with fully. I hope that makes sense? I never intended to contribute to bi-erasure in anyway, as I understand how harmful this is, and I'm sorry if it came across that way.
