My previous thread on this topic was deleted during the recent hacker incident, so I am remaking, as well as clarifying a few things.

Currently as stated in the terms and conditions [link], it is NOT required for Bimboland to provide users with a reason for being permanently banned, or a warning that they are going to be banned.

13. Suspension / exclusion

In the event that the Player does not respect the obligations provided in the Terms, Bimbolands reserves the right to suspend their access to the Game or to certain functions of the Game without notice. Likewise, in the event that internet users inform it that the Player is using the Game or discussion forums in a way which may cause harm to a third party, or which may be against good moral standards, public order or legal and regulatory provisions referred to in the present Terms, Bimbolands reserves the right to suspend the Player's access to the Game, the Account and to the illegal contents in question. This suspension will not entitle the Player to any compensation. Furthermore, Bimbolands reserves the right to exclude from participation in the Game any Player who upsets the correct running of the Game as well as any Player who does not fulfil all obligations of the present Terms. Exclusion is definitive and does not entitle the Player to any compensation other than that provided for in paragraph 9. Bimbolands reserves the right to commence proceedings against any Player who causes harm to Bimbolands through their breach of the Terms or otherwise.

It is also not required that users be informed of the reason they are jailed, and unfortunately there is another flaw in the current jailing system: if the moderator who jails you does not send you a direct message prior to jailing, you will not see it until your jail is lifted unless you have email notifications on OR if you wait until your jail is lifted. This is only if the person who has jailed you chooses to directly message you with the reason of your being jailed, and sometimes they do not. Also, the message displayed when trying to access the site while jailed only includes the amount of time until your jail is lifted, and the message displayed upon being banned does not include the reason for your being banned.

I feel that every user has the right to know why they were jailed or banned from the site, so I am proposing that the jail and ban features receive the following change: a REQUIREMENT that there is a reason for the action taken against the user, and that this reason is emailed to the user regardless of if they have email notifications on.

Example: A user repeatedly comments something offensive in a thread, so the user is jailed for 3 days. When the moderator who jails this user does so, there is a popup with a "reason for jail" drop down, as well as a description box. Both are required for the jail to proceed, so the moderator must choose the appropriate reason for being jailed and attach a description of the users actions that elicited this action. Afterwards, the information provided in the prompt by the moderator is emailed to the user.

This example would also apply to permanent bans.

Attached to this thread is a poll, and I would really appreciate if as many users as possible voted. If there are enough votes for yes I will be proposing this idea to Team President. The poll will end in one week, on May 27th at 00:00.

Thanks for reading ! <3

When you delete your account, there's like a 72-hour period where your bimbo is emigrating and you can still log-in until the countdown stops. If a bimbo gets permabanned, I think it would be good to have a 36-hour period where they can't interact with anything on the site, like in jail, but they can still log in to see the DM from the Fashion Police about why their post got them banned. (It could also be helpful to have an appeal system, or some way a misunderstood user could explain what they did if they felt they were unfairly banned.)

When the hacker banned many of our accounts, there was a lot of confusion about what had happened. There was no option to log out of the banned account, only a white screen that said "your account has been permanently banned", and we were locked out of BL completely unless we went on incognito mode or another browser. If we were able to still semi-access the website and see what had gone down, I think there would have been a lot less confusion around that instance, and for anyone who is genuinely permabanned, they would get context before their account is completely gone. In some cases, they might already know, but from many of the instances of users that had been banned with no context, they don't seem to understand what they did that got them banned, and it seems like there have been cases in the past where it was mostly up to the mod's interpretation of what the user's intentions were. (If I am incorrect in this assertion, feel free to correct me, I am relatively new here, and admittedly just going off of what others have said of the site.)

i think needing a reason would have avoided a lot of the mess caused by the hacker, or at least mitigated it - but a hack isn't something you expect to happen that often

That's actually a great point though it does make me think of other ways this change may be harmful - say if there was another hacker attempt they would be able to send harmful messages directly to players by way of the jail/ban popup... Perhaps it would be wise to have a review team for these, though that would raise the question of if a user is actively harassing people how quickly would they be stopped when the message has to be reviewed. Maybe the action is taken immediately regardless, the information provided by the moderator who jailed/banned the user is reviewed by another moderator, and if it is appropriate it is approved to be emailed to the player? If the information is inappropriate - and I'll use the hacker example of putting slurs and hate speech in the message here - the reviewing moderator can reverse the jail/ban and the user is allowed back?

Just throwing some ideas around here, I'd like to have a conversation on this.

What with the latest hacking situation, will "perma-banned" accounts somehow be reinstated?
