hey!!! i've hit the 30k word mark on my book!! got chapter 1&2 fully done and chapter 3 draft almost done, getting to the main action now!! (also there's a cat heheh)
really proud of the work i've done, it's taken me a while but i'm happy with how it's going! can't believe i'm not bored of this project yet :')

so far, i've got 16690 (nice) words and have just finished chapter two, so its gonna be a long one :,) the basic story 'genre' is apocalypse/sci-fi, but not completely in a traditional way!

yellow is Sasha, the 'main character' - she's confrontational and sick of everyone's bullshit
red is Arson - she is the bullshit - not a thought in her head
green is West - he is also the bullshit, except he occasionally thinks before he acts
and purple is Zinnia - the sweetest, kindest person ever, won't address the fact that she's horribly depressed :)
characters who i haven't drawn yet include:
Isabella - the leader of the main outpost in the early part of the book - she's intimidating as hell but is a benevolent leader
and Aiden - Zinnia's brother - he's a total dickhead, kinda sad really - he has a whole rivalry with West which (spoilers) is just gay, actually
now! story! (im sososo sorry this is so Long i'm Autistic and Very Passionate)
the story begins with Sasha - she wakes up in the middle of a road, no clue as to how she ended up there. long story short, she hears gunshots and then has to defend two strangers (with guns) from a genetically-fucked monster, all within two minutes of waking up. while she's freaking out, the two introduce themselves as Arson and West. they explain what's going on:
seven months ago, these creatures appeared out of nowhere. they infect everyone they can find, and the survivors have to live in makeshift shelters in terrible condition - Arson and West are from an outpost themselves; Outpost Zero! they invite Sasha back to their outpost (after insulting her for not knowing what's going on) - and that's basically the intro!
the next main plot point is this - Isabella, the leader of the outpost, decides it's finally time that the inhabitants of Zero find a better, more secure place to live! the journey is set to be dozens and dozens of miles, all the while raiders and monsters alike try to hunt them down! no spoilers, ill leave that there :)
there's a lot that's left unexplained, and i can assure you that you'll be getting answers (maybe) ;)
one last point (i promise!!)
while the story has a somewhat fantastical theme, i really want to focus on the human side of things - this book is driven by the characters and their growing/changing relationships with each other; i wanted to make a world that is completely destroyed yet inhabited by people who genuinely care for each other. like, despite the supernatural threats and bad people who will do whatever it takes to survive, the people of Zero still find the time to be good to each other, and that's good shit man :,)
i just want to make someone cry at some point, basically lol :)
