We don’t celebrate Halloween in my country, so no dressing for me. But I had to invent something for my daughter and also paint her face :)

I'm curious, where in the world you are? I'm in the UK (the North Of England)  You needn't say if your not comfortable doing so. I'm sure your inventing and face painting will be quite brilliant. Enjoy!

Halloween is definitely not a universal holiday.

My brother was born on the Day of the Dead, which I always thought was funny.

There are some overlaps. Both Halloween & Day of the Dead usually involve dressing up, for example.

Yup you're right it's not universal, here in the UK it only became a thing because of US influences on our society.

The Day of the dead? i'm not familiar with it's origins, but i've heard of it... mainly I think because of Indiana Jones... or was it a Bond film possible both.

I'm not a history expert by any means. But my understanding is that it kind of has mixed origins. The Indigenous people in Latin America had a holiday celebrating the circle of life & death. When the Spanish came to Latin America, they brought Catholicism which has an All Saints Day & All Souls day (1 & 2 November).
The combination of the indigenous culture & the Catholic holidays resulted in Day or Days of the Dead, because it can be celebrated over 3 days (31 October to 2 November).

We do, let’s say, “celebrate” our deceased members of family twice a year, in the summer and the fall. Is called Saturday of the Deads and we go to church, to their graves, we share usually food and drinks to some other peoples in memory of the lost ones and we have also a funeral cake very sweet made from barley and nuts. This happens in Romania.

If you don't like the word "celebrate," you could say you're "honoring" the Dead.

Indeed Cinnamon, “honoring” is more appropiate. Thank you!
