Many players would be standing in line to defend the freedom of expression of all players, no matter the experience level or skill in a language. Everyone has something to say, and it is the participation in a community that makes it strong. Older players were young once too.
Can you even imagine what I would have written about when I was 16 years old? (If the internet even existed at that time.)
Would I look even more foolish than I do now talking to myself in the Founders Inn and Grill?
I feel no shame about opening up my life to inspections. Why should I care what other people think of me?
I lead a fun life and a normal one at that, even if it does tend to have some unusual aspects to it. I can't expect everyone to understand my situations, and I caste no fault for it upon players with different cultural values who find my lifestyle nothing like the life they chose to live. Interests, and dreams should be shared with friends. What good is it, if everyone had to fear being who they are because someone might judge you. Humanity might have never even left the cave they once lived in, if fear of the unknown, was so powerful. My life is just a different perspective that is uncommon, and I enjoy sharing it.
Silent players
I feel that I'm actually one of the most active players; I suppose you can tell who is more active on this game by their reputation points!
I could pretty much make a list of all the names of players I see around most just by memory because they're that active and their reputation points are always 100+
I haven't been around much due to my exams being this week and next week, but after that I'll be as active as before. I've mainly been coming on recently to get the money that day and then I go back to revision.
I personally don't believe that there is a lot to do for players who find it tedious to write/read and the only thing they have is the the debate section which is, most of the time, empty. However, the site is still growing so we can hope for more activities in the future.

Your whole post is spot on. Yet, this particular part caused me to write. Writing doesn't seem to be a skill much taught, outside of higher education anymore. Look at the behavior of cell phone users/texters/social media. LAZY in one word. LMAOROF.
A basic skill such as writing has become a guessing game. Emotations, has replaced person to person contact. :/ Social skills, are being slowly forgotten in a world where both parents must work to survive, and cell phones become the only way a child can now communicate. Unfortunately it isn't with a parent, in most cases.
What I see as a former teacher, is that the lack of true reading, writing, and understanding ability, is actually making a generation of mutes.
I had wonderful teachers, while I was growing up. The first one being my mother. That woman read to me daily, before I could read myself. She bought me books, and I devoured them more than I thought about candy. English classes were always a simple class, and an easy "A" grade because of her efforts as I was a small child. I see a different dichotomy in education now. Computers do the thinking for everyone. Even, I'm not immune. Ask me to do simple math, and I would have to struggle to remember how to do it. It was never my subject of choice. Indeed In my jobs the numbers were always so large, and the equations so complex, that a computer was required to use. I got LAZY.
However hand me a peice of paper and a pen,pencil, or even a quill, and a jar of ink and I'm in my element. Expressing myself as a fluid dynamic of soul. What I say is never very important though. Thought provoking ? Questions? Interest? Or just the beginnings of conversation. IDK. (haha)
I would like to challenge a 'Texter' to write a simple paragraph about anything, using only 'Text Speak'. It would be funny to me to hear how other people can de-code it. Piff. I would find it really funny to see a step backwards in evolution. Sad, but funny all the same.
I always took great pride in hand writing a love letter to my husband, to include in his lunch box for him to find at work. I did the same for my children to find in a book, that we studied during homework-time. Of course they didn't always reply to me, but that wasn't the goal. My goal was to show how much I cared about them to take the time to say I loved them, by hand and deed.

I am not much of a writer,but If I am passionate about a subject I tend to write more.The reason I don't write as much as I once did is largely due to a neurological problem that makes me have totally numb hands and extremely weak muscles.I tend to drop things and can not tell or feel the writing instruments or the keyboard. this leads to innumerable typos and cross-outs which is embarrassing.Research on the other hand I spend lots of time pursuing especially in the fields of community outreach and legal areas.
Genealogy is another passion of mine as I love history and discovering the stories of individuals.So I spend long hours doing things like this instead of writing.

Well, I don't write much, but I can blame that on me not having access to the Internet. I recently moved from my hometown because of college, and I was unable to get a wi-fi conection at home for many reasons, structural reasons among them. From now on, you can put the blame on me alone, if I don't show up at the forums. ;)

I also have this problem with Wi-Fi.
I cannot get a connection with phones or tablets. It is just impossible where I live. I use a cell phone, as a PHONE.
I used to only be able to use a dial up service. This might sound silly, but I had a dedicated optic fiber cable ran out to my home. I made a deal with the cable company. They soon discovered that there was an open market, and ran cables to all of my neighbors as well, following my advice. All underground.
I dislike 'Over Air' Wi-Fi. I've personally seen what hackers can do with them.
A silly_time story:
I was in London, with a 'teckki'. He pulled out his phone, and showed me the contents of people's phones sitting right next to me in a pub with Wi-Fi. He could track anyone he wanted too because of a phones Wi-Fi ability, and the 'subject's phone seeking out a new signal to contact. It is purely spooky !!!!
I know he was just showing off to me, and he did not cause damage. but It taught me a lesson. I don't know how, he could do it and don't even care to know. All I could see is how he could track anyone in 'Real-time'. We even laughed as we followed someone at random all the way home. Just so he could prove a point to me. A Wi-Fi phone is not private, AT ALL. He just chose a cell signal to follow.
I will never use a phone, to connect to the internet, after that little demonstration.
My home is Hard-Wired, and will always be.
I can wait to use the internet, like an Old fashioned telegraph. Nothing I have to say is important enough, that it can't wait a day or two. Till, I get home. Even then, How private is THAT?
