exfoliating everyday......... that causes SO MUCH damage to your skin i swear..
ppl rly be ruining their moisture barrier by doing this
if this is you and you have having a ghastly moment about it, look up emollients and barrier repair
you probably have sensitive skin and would benefit from gentle exfoliation but you have to STOP until your moisture barrier is healthy

Mary Kay. Never, EVER use it! It makes your skin dependent on it and it may even "help" when u use it regularly but once you decide to get rid of it and try smth else nothing will work, not bc u use bad products but bc your skin is quite literally addicted to Mary Kay. Never use it! It took a year for me to fight this addiction

sans cum

i had really bad acne growing up, and tbh, absolutely nothing worked for me. only accutane. nowadays i use the cerave cleanser, and the cetaphil moisturizer, and i think they both work great for me! i think keeping your skincare routine simple is very important!

does anyone have good recommendations for someone with severe allergies! i have sensitive skin and am struggling to find a balance between products because ones with chemicals are too harsh for me + all natural products tend to cause an allergic reaction ;__;
i'd say look at cerave if you haven't already, the hydrating cleanser for dry/combo skin and the foaming cleanser for oily skin & the facial moisturising lotion (just get the pm version because spf in anything but an actual sunscreen is diluted and therefore takes a fuckton of the product before you actually have the protection listed, also putting anything with spf on at night is redundant and possibly even pore-clogging). i'm not sure about toners for sensitive skin but def avoid anything with bha or ahas in it because, as stated previously, toners aren't meant to exfoliate (the only one that i pass is the glow recipe watermelon aha toner, don't ask me why lol. gr just has some pretty good products imo) and i don't know about exfoliators for sensitive skin, def avoid physical ones and maybe try the paula's choice 2% BHA like once every two weeks or smth. you could try a simple serum as well, maybe a hyaluronic acid one if moisture if your concern (it can also technically be labeled as an anti-aging ingredient as more moisture reduces wrinkles, but retinol is by far more effective in that area, with the set back being that it's harsher and has to be used less frequently (up to five times a week), especially for someone with sensitive skin) or a niacinamide one if you'd like to even skin-tone/reduce redness and scarring and fight off acne a bit. i wouldn't recommend the serums from the ordinary, because, as the name suggests, their products are ordinary (of course, that's my opinion), maybe try the the inkey list. the most important things are to avoid added fragrance and patch test before putting them straight on your face, which are probably things you already know and do as someone that lives with sensitive skin, but just in case, y'know?

not really scam related but does anyone have tips on caring for bacne?
so cerave's sa body wash & panoxyl's acne cream wash seem to be highly regarded, but where i live, i can't get them without spending an outrageous amount of money to get them shipped here. no idea why my country can't have the entirety of a skincare range, but it's quite common here. if you live in a country where these are easily available, the cerave one is apparently more gentle so if you're on the sensitive side i'd recommend that. i heard that it's best to let these like sit on the skin for around 3 minutes, so i guess to get full effects you have to pause the shower for a bit and be cold :(

if you're like me and aren't able to access those options, i've (surprisingly) heard good things about the mario badescu aha botanical body soap. most mario badescu products are shit, but even people who agree with me on that say that this is great, so it seems worth checking out. i'm currently trying the revolution skincare salicylic balancing body cleanser and matching body spray (the paula's choice one sounds good too), but i am a bit weary of the witch hazel in them, as it's a very drying ingredient. for all i know, all the products i mentioned could also have witch hazel (highly doubt the cerave one would), i'm terrible with checking ingredients before buying things but i guess as long as we wash it off completely and moisturize after showering we should be good, though its a nightmare trying to get to that upper section of the back for me lol.

if you're using a loofa i recommend throwing it out and getting this mesh towel thing (literally couldn't tell you what it's actually called so i'm going to attach an image so you can see) instead, as loofas are like a major breeding ground for bacteria. i got mine from daiso, and it makes washing the back so much easier (thank u for showing me the light, lab muffin beauty science :prayerhands:)

these ones look a little rough, and a little like they belong in a kitchen, but they probably soften when wet and it's pretty easy to wash with this without using too much pressure.

for hyperpigmentation: niacinamide (my favorite products: glow recipe's watermelon glow dew drops, beauty of joseon's repair serum), salicylic acid (cerave sa smoothing cleanser), azelaic acid, mandelic acid and vitamin c/ascorbic acid.

vitamin c is a pain in the ass because it oxidizes and basically becomes useless so easily. lab muffin beauty science has a diy serum recipe (she's chemistry phd, i wouldn't recommend diy skincare otherwise) that's probably the best option, as you make it once every week or so, so you only use it at it's most useful. it's surprisingly not that expensive for something you have to remake so often, but if that's not your style than i've heard good stuff about the glow recipe guava vitamin c serum and the skinceuticals c e ferulic serum is often called 'the gold standard'... for some reason. i've never tried it nor will i ever, considering just how crazy expensive skinceuticals is. $169 usd for 30mls in a dropper bottle is ridiculous.

for blackhead/clogged pore prevention: b.h.a or 2% salicylic acid twice a week

unfortunately, i think the best thing to do when you already have blackheads is to get them extracted by an esthetician, i think they'll do it like, in any facial treatment so i'd recommend a dermaplaning treatment because it shaves fine vellus hair and dead skin cells off, leaving your face silky smooth. i want to do it so bad
