This makes me concerned as most of my outfits have a lil red here and there. I am a horror fan and one of my outfits is chainsaw lolipop. My alice outfit is Alice falling down on the hole and bumping their head. Kind of like dorthy from the wizard of oz2. This is a site aimed at adults and everyone is into different things. I took a couple of days to respond partially because I was jailed and also because I was working all weekend.
If a select few people are reading my look as only blood and gore, they're stopping at the surface.
This look isn't about violence. Horror has always been a part of fashion, art, and storytelling. The body has been used as a canvas to explore mortality, vulnerability, beauty, and rebirth from Gothic literature to haute couture runway looks. The exposed "wounds" and dripping embellishments are theatrical, not literal and serve to function more like costume jewelry. Or special effects which I am a fan of in film and fashion. Special effects makeup artists are on a whole different level, honestly.
My inspiration for this look was Gottmik's iconic Halloween drag look, which blurred the lines between glamour and body horror. To me, it reads more 'the price of beauty' and 'beauty as skin deep'. Like that outfit, I think mine asks the question: why are flowers, pearls, and sequins considered beautiful, but the realities beneath the skin are considered unacceptable? A spooky look shouldn't be limited to witches, ghosts, ghouls and goblins because fear comes in many forms. Horror is an art form that when combined with fashion and the macabre can create something intentionally unsettling.
My goal wasn't to create something for shock value, in fact, I was quite proud of my look and had a lot of fun layering pieces to create the effect I was looking for. While creating, I was viewing similar looks from the runway and costumes that appear on Pinterest as suggested after viewing Gottmik's Halloween look. All of these looks are considered artistic and are available to be seen publicly on Pinterest. If my look makes people uncomfortable for a moment before they admire the craftsmanship, then it's doing what good horror art is meant to do. I had the same feelings while admiring other works before I used what was in the shops to create my own interpretation of glamour and body horror.

i look at more blood than is on that outfit for a week straight every month being female. Why is everyone so scared of blood. This site already has alot of stuff people might be sensitive about, and always has. advertisements changed blue liquid to pink. Like truth is most of us girlies see alot of blood on the regular, i love candygore style art and am trying to make a Chery outfit with some of the blood as cherry and knife. And yes i also like dragula so i agree special fx and gore is a part of fashion. And hot nurses all the way! I see worse stuff than this just walking through downtown.

Catgender, I don’t necessarily believe this is the case, but rather, that our beloved leader wanted to target me specifically. As people have been saying though, this is a slippery slope. Someone else in charge could make it illegal to create outfits with shoes layered on top, for example and Slay would be SOL.
