you say: men’s sports bring in more money than women’s sports, so they should earn more

well i say: USWNT will again earn more revenue for U.S. Soccer than the men’s team.
example: in 2016, the year after the women won the 2015 world cup, they brought in $1.9 million in revenue more than the men.

you say: men’s sports are more entertaining than women’s sports

well i say: the U.S. audience for the women’s final in 2019 was 22 percent higher than for the men’s final in 2018. more than one billion people tuned in to watch the wwc last summer in france, and the two most-watched soccer games in U.S. television history are uswnt games, with the 2019 final between the U.S. and the netherlands drawing more then 20 million americans viewers.

you say: men’s teams bring in more money via TV contracts

i say: marketing EFFECTIVELY women’s sports has a huge impact on the audiences they attract. in 2020, thanks to increased promotion of the league by networks like ESPN, ABC, etc etc,, viewership was up 31% the first three WNBA games of the 2019 season saw an INCREASE of 64 percent over the first four games of 2018.

"To put it simply, men had a huge head start,” he says. “Men have been playing organized professional team sports since the 19th century. Women, though, have only been playing for a few decades. Beyond the huge head start, men also get 95 percent of the sports media coverage. So, men’s sports get a tremendous amount of free advertising that is not available to women.”
-David Berri, professor of economics at SUU

Last time I checked female athletes are doing better than male athletes, what inside your brain tells you that the women deserve to be paid less than the men other than blatant sexism and misogyny? Just because the media is sexist and misogynistic by giving all-female sport teams barely any media coverage outside of the Olympics doesn't mean they deserve less money just because you can't see how well they're doing

Also just the thought that women deserve less pay than men while doing the same job is inherently sexist and misogynistic because NO ONE should be paid less money than the other while doing the same damn job, unless they're really bad at it and keep messing up or just not doing anything at all there's no reason or justification to lower or withhold any payment

Howdy, StrangeKindOfWoman. I understand it probably wasn't your intention, but the opinion you posted here promotes very sexist stereotypes. This thread is open to anyone's opinions, yes, but we can't allow harmful or discriminatory comments on the forum. Please refrain from making this kind of generalisation in future.

Now that's what I call an unpopular opinion. Just a few things:

The USWNT negotiated to get a different contract than the men, with more guaranteed money and insurances. Afterwards they realized they would have gotten more money with the same deal the me  got. There's a reason it got rejected in court.

Everybody should get the same amount of money, because it's the same job? How would that work? That doesn't even work, if you're on the same team. So, Heiko Westermann should get the same as Cristiano Ronaldo? male models should get the same as female models? It's the same job.

Media doesn't cover all female sport teams as much, because there aren't enough people watching.

Last time I checked female national football teams were beaten by a bunch of 15 year old boys. How much money does a 15 year old get?

Also, if I thought I was better at my job than another person and should get more money, I wouldn't go for equal pay. I would want more than the other person.

You are welcome to your opinion, yes, but I did ask you to stop. I've been told by multiple people that your posts are making them uncomfortable, and I can understand why. You've made your point, now please let the topic go. If you continue to ignore warnings you may face punishment.

Ma'am u can stop deepthroating capitalism's boot anytime now, nobody's forcing you to keep doing it here aight

And if YOU don't want equal pay, that's your problem, I wouldn't mind sharing the same salary as someone else in the same job as mine who happened to be considered "less efficient". If your boss thinks you are more efficient than your friend simply because you're a man and they're not, they'll still try to justify it as "efficiency problems" instead of, y'now, misogyny.
Same goes to sports. Not that hard to get.
