I'm curious about what other bimbos and himbos are reading!

Right now, I'm reading Hope Rides Again by Andrew Shaffer. It's the second book in the Obama Biden Mystery series. I received an advanced copy through NetGalley, but it comes out next month, if anyone wants to read it.

I also just started listening to The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon on audiobook.

Like I said in the other thread, I just read history, would probably be boring to most people (right now I'm reading very local history so would definitely be boring to anyone but local historians), when I'm less boring I read LGBT+ history lol.

Obviously used to read more fiction - I read a bit of Carlos Ruiz Zafon but I didn't enjoy it. :/

But I'm always trying to get back into reading fiction, I just need to balance my time better. Since it's Pride times, I'm especially right now looking to read something gay or gay related lol - anybody have any ideas of recommendations?

I started reading The Cemetery of Lost Books series because so many people loved it, and I have to say, I'm not impressed with it either. I like the narrator though, so I'm giving this one a shot.

I read a really great biography called Jane Crow. It's about Pauli Murray, who was a civil rights and women's rights activist who was also either gay or trans. It's quite fascinating and well written. If you want to try a historical queer fiction novel, I enjoyed The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters.

Same, though I didn't get that into the series lol - on the one hand, it was very readable, but on the other hand wasn't all that readable, Idk! I would've liked it to be more about women perhaps.

I've already read the Paying Guests! Sarah Waters is great though, definitely.

Pauli Murray is very interesting, I was thinking about that issue yesterday - some people are very sure Pauli Murray was trans now, others think a queer woman still. It's difficult to know for sure when they're already gone, or how to refer to them even, and it's also difficult to know exactly who is right (if either?) because anyone can be biased here and want to 'claim' someone to represent them perhaps. People who do women's history definitely feel threatened that these badass women are taken from them when people claim they are trans, but it shouldn't be treated as any kind of competition, it should be purely an issue of trying to find what was the truth.

That's a whole different issue lol but I will definitely look up the book, thank you!

I've heard of that but not read it so thank you!

So far the only fictional thing I have tried to read yet (since last post) is the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics lol. I did look at them when they first came out but I wasn't that sure - I will try to give something a chance until the second book at least lol.

Also downloaded a comic called 'The Pride' apparently about LGBT+ superheroes. Don't know if it's good yet but an interesting idea! (I don't even like comics that much but I'm always trying to get into them as well because I know there are good ones and I've read a couple of online comics. Ms Marvel I read a fair bit of and enjoyed. But I haven't read the newest so I should do that as well.)

I just realised the author of Song of Achilles is the same author as Circe, which I keep seeing around lately. Anybody know if that's good? Though I'll probably try Song of Achilles first (especially if it's gay lol) and see if I like her writing.

Circe has been on the bestseller list for months. I'm still waiting on a copy from the library.

I've been dabbling with graphic novels as well. I really enjoyed The Prince and the Dressmaker. Honor Girl is another good queer coming-out story. And then I read a few Gwenpool, which is just pure fun. =P

I don't pay too much attention to bestseller lists - Fifty Shades was a bestseller and now it just fills up charity shops.

It's too difficult to find the books you really want to read in the library ugh. More reason to not rush to read the newest books. This reminded me I need to check the due dates on books I do have out though oops.

I saw the Prince and the Dressmaker on some joyful queer books list and it looked like the one I'd most likely check out and hopefully enjoy! I only just heard of Gwenpool but I'd def check that out too. These are a lot of options of what to read now that I'm adding to my list, we'll see what I end up reading~
