What kind of person would you be if x hadn't happened to you? What kind of person do you think you would have grown to be, for the better or worse if some significant event in your life never happened or went differently. Everyone in their life has one or two events that could have gone so many ways but still affected them and changed them, made them grow. What was it, and who would you be now?

I was thinking about how many times my life changed course. Every path leading me to where I am today.
I think the multi-dimensional universe would apply to everyone, in that every decision and action has been and will be done. All outcomes are possible in an infinite universe, and you just have to learn to live in the present while preparing for the future.

when i was little i used to think, that things would have been better if this or that went another way. better, not different!
now i think that it is possible that things have gone another way and were different, but i am not so sure if that would have been better...
i am who i am because of the things i expirienced. and i am fine with who i am.
sometimes i wish things were easier but on the other hand i am kind of happy that i did made it thruogh rough times and became the person i am.
for example:
my big brother was very sick as a kid, doctors used to say that he would barely make to his 7th birthday. i used to see him getting really bad and i always was afraid he might die,... and then he got better. and then sick again... and better again. because of him being so sick my parents had very little time for me, and very little time for themselfes. they were afraid a lot, did fight a lot, did expect much from me (i did plan my sixt birthday all by myself... picking the date, choosing who to invite, organizing someone with a ponywagon to go for a ride with me and my friends...) which most of the time was not age appropriate...
but we made it through it. all of us. even my brother (who is now a middle aged punk, playing the drums in a band, being on tour a lot. plus having a normal, rent-paying, job :) )
it was hard for me as a kid, but it turned out okay (for him as well) and i have a really good relationship to my brother. we always did a lot of stuff together, still try to do even though we life 300 km apart, help each other out, take care of each other, be there for each other.
i think part of that is because we learned to talk honestly to each other when we were very little, telling each other our hopes and scares, ... just being honest (i told him when i was 5, that i am jealous of all the attention he gets and that i feel alone very often, he was 7 and told me not to feel bad about being jealous...).
and we always conspired against our parents as we were older. my parents did still fight a lot and just had to deal with themselfes a lot. i had some problems with my mother, an eating disorder (and finally a lot of attention, which i couldn't stand) and made some really bad decisions about partys, boys and drugs, which made my brother afraid. he tried to help me hide the bad stuff (and i helped him, he had trouble in school then and trouble with our mom about the "punk-thing") up to the point when he thought it would be too dangerous to hide it any longer (he was the one who told my mom that i dont eat when i am not at home and vomit after every family meal...)... he helped me. and he trusted me when i said the best thing for me is to leave the family, even though it was hard for him to let me go (now he says that things in the family went better the moment i went away... and that he was happy to feel kind of normal when i was away...and felt bad about feeling that way. and i am the one telling him that it is okay to feel that way and that i understand why he felt that way... it must have been f***ing hard to be my big brother when i was a teenager, to see and know all the bad stuff and not be able to really do anything about it.)
my brother is the one who showed me what "unconditional love" means. the realationship to my brother is the best thing that ever "happened" to me.

we love each other. we are proud of each other. we will always be there for each other (which these days also mean criticize each other honestly, fight open about "bad decicisons" and not try to hide them, have different opinions and still make it work...). we have each other.
i am so happy about that and i think the way we got here was worth of it.

If I hadn't gotten sick at 18-19 I believe id be further along in life and more successful. I'm healthy now of course, but it stunted me in several ways. I missed out on a lot.
If I hadn't spend my early years in the hospital fighting to live and watching other kids sick- some of them died while I was there. I would probably be more responsible and serious. I never really made a big deal out of school although I love to learn and want to be big in my area. I don't like to spend time doing something that bores me nor if it tires me. I just like to live and enjoy my time doing what I love.
