Why did parents of 80s, 90s, and 2000s kids teach their kids to be mean?

Kids have always been, and very much still are, mean. The lack of understanding of emotions {including their own}, the hormones, the undeveloped brains...And then we stick hundreds of them in a building where they outnumber the adults? Yeah, a recipe for disaster. In the 2010s, as someone who entered middle school then, it was very much still around. I was actually forced into a locker once when my bullies realized I fit {I was super skinny and had a "full" locker that went to the floor and to the middle of the wall}, they thought it would be funny to do after seeing it on tv so many times. Luckily the latch could be undone from the inside, so I just had to wait for them to leave. I was spit on, had my things stolen and broken, at one point I was shoved to the ground so hard it actually resulted in an ER visit later. And because the school I went to wouldn't do anything if the rich kids bullied the poor kids {Or really if the poor kids bullied the poor kids, they only stepped in if a rich kid bullied a richer kid, or a poor kid bullied a rich kid} the bullies were bold. And the teachers who wanted to help could only do so much, like write passes for kids so we didn't have to be in the hallways at the same time as our bullies and could show up to our next class late, our librarians literally used to let some of us hide in their office.

But the other "fun" thing of the 2010s was that bullying wasn't just in person anymore, it moved online where it was even harder to get anything done about it. A lot of adults at that point still didn't understand how online bullying worked at all, and thought it was as simple as blocking a person and you'd never have to deal with it again. They didn't get that multiple accounts could be made, or that the online could bleed into real life.

Unfortunately, some adults simply do not grow out of this, and remain bitter and mean because they never faced, and maybe still never face, consequences for their actions. Of course, you see the same thing with kids too. The kids who aren't told no, and who are never punished in any way are usually the ones most likely to do horrible things to other people because they know they won't get in any trouble for it. I know more than a few kids who even when the second {Way better} school I went to tried to fix anything, their parents would come in and scream until their kid didn't have to face any trouble.

Pretty much school sucks and I feel bad for kids still stuck in it, because from what I've seen Gen Alpha has only gotten worse.

see this is why i threw a desk at the guy who was being transphobic to my friend. kids ARE vicious and with the whole dont retaliate against your bullies campaign, you cant defend yourself. i was lucky to have a dad who firmly believed in beating the shit out of the person who hits you first and he and my mom both defended me when i did actually get in trouble at school.

Idk if I got bullied or more like I never thought of it like that. I fought a lot in elementary and in middle school. This will shock you guys! I was a quiet book worm for the most part. I know, shocking right?! :3  I’d throw hands before words, amazing how things change. Dean don’t go throwing “stabbing” without context XD I was like bruh…!
