TBH I was an avid Barbie purchaser... years ago. I think that our modern kids are doing the same things we are these days.. opting for virtual Barbies and virtual fashion games v. actually playing with hand held dolls. The imagination of this newest generation is all essentially almost all digital.

Another thing is that Barbie has more creative and higher quality competition(at least in my opinion) especially for those seeking the higher quality look. With the internet, we now have free access to the BJD's out of Japan and other parts of Asia, and they are generally masterpieces, just expensive.

What I love about these new Fashionista Barbie dolls, is the new versatility of body types, especially face molds, face paintings, skin tones, hair styles and hair colors. I think there wasn’t this much diversity before. What I don’t like is that the bodies are not that flexible and bendable - but ofcourse those Made to Move Barbies are just wonderfull. I also don’t like these new Fashionista outfits. Mostly I just can’t understand those clothes they have now. And lastly, I think sometimes these new dolls’ face paintings  look cheap - too few details, and sometimes there are even some asymmetry and mess.

Barnes & Noble is a major book store in the United States and I recently went and saw these Barbies there.

These Barbies are in the $30 price range

She costs $60

Are these dolls too costly?

Yes in America a bookstore is selling dolls! There is also a selection of board games!

Luckily Mattel still offers some Barbie dolls with beautiful outfits, for example those dolls above, and also those ”Look” Barbies. It seems like they are offering these new Fahionista dolls as playline dolls for children, and then there are those little bit finer dolls for adult collectors. And where I live, what you see in toy stores etc, you mostly see these new playline Fashionistas, and a very few of them. Not that huge selection of them. Boring. If you’d like to buy a collector  here, you mostly have to shop online.

When I was on a holiday trip in Los Angeles area, they sold Barbie dolls even in a pharmacy shop! xD At a Rite Aid! It was so cool! For example there was a Mary Jane Barbie doll in a wedding gown, from the Spider Man series by Marvel. She was wonderful!

Barbie use to dress really well when she first came out, but the issue then was that she basically looked the same apart from a few exceptions. Because of this, many little girls and boys felt left out because they couldn't find a barbie that looked like them. But now, they have become much more inclusive, but with that that haven't put in as much work into the clothes instead on making sure all people who get barbies feel like they are now allowed to. So its really one or another it seems. There are however some clothes available that are beautiful and very well made, but they are expensive and exclusive. There also are separate designers who create their own barbie outfits which they sell on places like ebey and etsy, they can also be expensive tho... I personally would rather barbie be inclusive then care about the outfits. I would love matel to now start concentrating on the clothes again so anyone can dress their barbies however they want. <3
