At least with long hair I could have got it re-cut into a cute short do if they cut it too short but with this I literally cant do anything with my hair but hide it under a hat.
I can sympathize with your experience. However I don't use barbers. If they make a mistake on a man they can just shave everything off. (apparently)
I have very long hair, and it is sort of a trademark of mine, so getting my hair done always makes me cry. I only ask for trims too. Unfortunately it always seems that they take 4 inches off the ends, and I look at myself in horror. I know it will grow again but it usually takes a day or two to forget about a disastrous hair cut.
I used to wear my hair in a short bob-style, and I think I had a different attitude and style with that sort of hair-do. You may well experience a change too, in how you feel about how easy it is to take care of your hair for a while. I went from very short hair that was easy to take care of, to a nightmare of long hair that always seems to be in my face and mouth when the wind blows. The thing about it, that irritates me the most is finding my hair in my panties. ( that didn't sound quite right and it would be to graphic to explain )
I coughed once, and inhaled my own hair for a second cough and threw up in public, next. Bystanders were shocked and rushed to my aid, and I was totally looking for the nearest rock to crawl under.
