LoveSoldier

Gone a bit off topic but thought I'd contribute to this mess of a forum thread because my name tends to get thrown around a lot when talking about jail sentences lol.

Context for anyone who doesn't know me or my situation because I'm not a senator or anything lol: Hi, I'm the one and only LoveSoldier, Soldier of Love, I joined the site around July of last year and I'd say I'm pretty active on here. I wanna say the 2nd week of march I ended up in jail for a week, we'll get to that in a bit but as far as I'm aware, nobody really knew why that was while I was unable to access the site.

Right, so, I don't get email notifications for this site for some reason, I don't think I ever disabled them but maybe I needed to enable them somewhere; when you're jailed, you cannot access your profile or the site in general. This includes messages, where the reason for your sentence is posted- kind of problematic since you don't know what you did if you don't get the email about it. Continuing on, if I recall there were multiple people who posted along the lines of 'why was LoveSoldier jailed?' to which I don't believe there was ever an answer from whoever jailed me (Technically it's a mystery but iykyk.)

Anyways, skip to a week later, I'm finally out of jail, I check my messages to see why and it just says "sabotage." Now I don't know about any of you but I don't know what constitutes 'sabotage', I would say 'I don't think there's a list anywhere' but I don't feel like people usually just list out how to sabotage them lol. Regardless, I STILL don't know why I was jailed. There's one person who knows and they've not been able to tell me what it was, feel like that should've been in the jail message or something. When people say the jailings are inconsistent- this is probably what that means, you really don't know when or why you're going to be jailed for something because the rules get added after you break them and yet you can still be punished for that. Based on some research, generally in real life You cannot be jailed for something that was legal at the time you committed the action.  AKA you can't jail someone for say, some unknown form of sabotage or using a 'don't vote me i'm helping' sign before it was deemed illegal, this is an example of ex-post-facto law, which is strictly forbidden by the US constitution (where most users live) and are strongly 'disfavored' in Australian courts (where I myself live)

Now some people may be of the belief that we only stick up for those whom we agree with in cases of unfair jailing, SilentlyScreaming if you could please include somewhere when you were jailed for your drug story that would be great because I for one, don't think I would've been on the website when that happened, or at the very least I wouldn't have been heavily involved in site politics. I would personally disagree with your jailing, I would've defended you even though I don't like you as a person. (Not to say I DISLIKE her, but) I don't know Reivalentine very well, I think we may have interacted once or twice AT MOST before she was jailed, I STILL defended her because there was no rule against what she was doing. This isn't about being mad my friends are being jailed, I'm mad that myself and others are being jailed either for doing vague crimes (like 'sabotage') or for breaking rules that don't exist.

Anyways, someone tell me what I was sabotaging, what did I do to get a week-long jail sentence with no warning and no further explanation afterwards lol, stuff like that is why I'm not thrilled about the current MOJ and Jailing situation

Politically, y'all push it to the point where no one gives a fuck about you or anyone else. No one likes a Mean Girl. You want to be treated fairly now?? Keep crying the blues. All you are is dust in the wind.

girl what is this I said i'd have backed you up tf, I'm genuinely not even trying to antagonise you, I'm empathising with you being jailed wrongly because I was also jailed wrongly in my opinion (given I still don't know what I did), not trying to be condescending I just don't know when you were jailed and I don't know if I was on here at that point, explaining why I wouldn't have defended you at the time

Yes, and I'm saying, I don't give one fuck one way or the other, just like the majority of the user base. Y'all drew that line in the sand, because that's the way you wanted it. Now live with it.

?? I don't know why you're being so hostile here, can you explain why you're talking this way to me? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm not even disagreeing with you on some of your points necessarily, I'm just saying I've been jailed unfairly at some point, I don't know when you were jailed but I share your frustration at being put in that position

Here is a voice of reason. Thanks
I agree with everything you say here.

Lets try to unpack some of this and make the correct changes going forward -

Our democracy.
Or our 'democratic experiment' to be precise.

This is the most important thing to me and is the most important thing we have here in Ximboland. Our biggest asset. Our noble cause. Our USP.
Its more important than me, you, fashion, gaming, social media and every other asset we have here. Its the thing that must be used as the guiding light in every decision taken. By all of us.
I think if there is one thing to come out of this thread lets hope it can be that we all finally hold onto this premise and use it as our guiding light. Something that unites us rather than divides us.

Imo the ONLY way we can ever offer something wonderful and truly unique to the world that is noble and unique is if we vociferously defend our democratic experiment and REFRAIN from giving up on it. At all costs.

Giving up on it in this threat is exhibited in calls to replace it with an overarching 'moderator' or an 'autocrat' whom decides the rules 'ongoing' and indefinitely. Whether that is in human form (employed) or in a strict set of rules form (constitution).
Please can we all recognize that no matter how hard things are we must NOT give in and call for the MofJ to be replaced by an autocrat. That's not the way forward. I would go as far to say that is treason and becomes the death of Ximboland. Please lets get this point clear in all our heads from now on.

If we ever go back to having an indefinite autocrat in charge who 'moderates' or 'sets the rules' indefinitely then you have just killed the Ximboland dream. You have just killed the Democratic republic of Ximboland and turned it into something else. You have essentially turned it into facebookland or Twitterland ie social media sites that are ruled in an autocratic fashion with rules set from the top that trickle down.
Equally calling for a set of STRICT rules or a 'perfect' constitution that will cover everything is also destined to fail.

Our challenge is to make a system that is BETTER than anything ever seen online before. An e-nation. A system better that what we all know and have to put up with at Twitterland and facebookland. A system that is created by us together. A democratic system that, whilst flawed, is fairer and better than anything ever seen before online. A system where rules are created by you - the Ximbo citizens but enforced by a Minister of Justice whose power is perfectly curtailed by a string of levers and mechanisms that create something we are all proud of.

So what do we have thus far that we can be proud of ?

1) We have a shared gaming and fashion Bimbo history stretching back to 2006

2) We have a shared history of elected Prime Ximbos stretching back a long long way (2014)

3) We have refined this system over the years to now have a system whereby we have a number of elected ministers and an appointed Minister of Justice.

4) We have lots and lots of talented and well meaning Ximbos whom share a passion for fashion, community and Ximboialnd whom want things to be better.

5) We have a President/Miss Bimbo (me) whom wont give up on the idea and whom has learnt the hard way that i must always put these democratic dreams and ideals ahead of anything else including money, friendships, relationships, my own ego and my own personal beliefs etc In the past I have failed at this because I have unilaterally changed my opinion and position from 'autocrat' to 'democrat ' and back to 'autocrat' and back to 'democrat' etc I messed around with Ximboland and failed our democracy and you and and ximboland. That won't happen again. Please mark my words - I would prefer to sell/emigrate from Ximboland rather than become an autocrat again or put another autocrat permanently in place.
Some of you will rightly say we have an autocrat in place for 3 months now ie Katie is now the boss because she has the most powerful position of MofJ. This is true but an autocrat for 3 months is miles better than an autocrat indfeifenlty. Now our challenge is to further balance out the level of power here in Ximboland. So please help with that.

6) We have a Minister of Justice whom is the closest thing we have to an autocrat. An autocrat with lots of checks to their power to curtail their absolute power e.g. they are in charge for only 3 months, one Ximbo can only do the job once in their lives, they are appointed by me, they must state up front if they are rules based or freedom based, they can not execute another ximbo, they have to respect certain value and areas of Ximboland eg the Xemocracy arena etc

We can be proud of what we achieved thus far right?

Now on to reforming things and improving our democracy even further. Ideas welcomed. Perhaps I will start a new thread on this

This thread is a mess. Chris picking MOJ was fine with Dean and Tibby with the people complaining in this thread because they leaned the same way in ideals/politics. Katie has the right to do it her way no matter what (though i don't agree with Rei...

Out of curiosity, do you plan for the position of MOJ to ever be one that we will be able to vote on? Also, have you had the chance to look at the poll Katie requested?
