Longer answer...that little hobby has went very well and I am actually just starting a new division dedicated to it...The more I played with the OS the better it got and it has advanced to the point that when I did a UI demo of it to a couple people at Barrelfish that I know good enough. when i showed them some of the transfer rates they were stunned...and when i integrated multiple OSs on the fly they were fairly blown away. They said it was still very raw and rudimentary...which i knew... but that it seemed to have a better DTR than their latest work and the integration of platforms was promising. when they asked how many years I had been working on it and I told them a couple months of spare evenings they essentially wanted to instabuy it and begged to take an inside look lol...yeah right...not going to happen lol!!! I did a couple demos after that and my wee spare time hobby and was afforded the opportunity to do some testing that I can't do myself...turns out that I am already doing well WELL over a teraflop from my standalone computer...which is mind boggling
so anyways there is still a crapload to do...but what the new division will work on is scaling. we are in the process of looking for a space that can fit our scaling demands....which is not exactly a long list. as the it stands now i believe we can get into the high hundreds of tflops....if we can work on deficiencies and in the system...cuz it is still in its infancy...and we apply scaling...well, I am confident we can get into multiple peta territory. peta rates haven't been achieved by many. if we can achieve peta rates then the dream is that Cray or someone anywhere on the same map as them might take us seriously and invite us to push and challenge the CLE platform. If we get to there that instantly puts us in the exaflop race....and that is more than a game changer....that is a new beginning...right now that is a holy grail

so that brings us to the long answer...my time was already too valuable to put into a developing a site such as this (to put it bluntly I would not be able to afford myself) unless I did it in spare time...now there is little spare time...and honestly...I could use that spare time to focus on the business I am neglecting compared to the past...or I can try to go do something fun with friends...which I don't do enough of right now. I could pay people to do it...but I would need to separate something like this from my brand...I can't risk their branding via association...and honestly...there would unlikely ever be enough return in it for me to make it worth my while if I was paying others to do it.
It is a catch 22 of my time being too valuable to do it and the product not being valuable enough for me to fund....it is lost in fiscal obscurity somewhere in between. I would need to get to about 160000 users for it to even be remotely close to being worth it. I am not saying it is not worth it to someone...it likely is as I know it can turn a good enough profit for someone...but not enough for me when i could put the same resources elsewhere and get better return

After reading all of Mindys post, I had this wish:
She would make a more decent administrator to work fixing the flaws with Bimbolands. The owner just couldn't stayed focused on the problems I would point out with game-play issues because he didn't also play the game. Someone fixing the game would have to, in my opinion. The rule's and such were not thought out very well. The technical details are not the only problem the game faced.

For me it would need to be a redesign...not simply administration...anyone with basic experience can do that and do well if they carry some passion and neutrality. but one of the problems is that the owner took a past project and tried to use the brand to build something entirely different while trying to say it was a mere reinventing of the original...I am always very cautious about even synergy with brands...mere association of different brands can damage both...this is to a whole new level. His vision could work...but other stuff to draw and retain needs to be there first....and it is not.

but yeah....in my experience if i am making a product that i don't see myself using it is going to have issues...if you are making a social site and can't buy into it enough to interact yourself...not a good sign. you need to either be involved in it or have reports with power and ability who are....as a startup niche site you need to have someone who has an actual interest in it while it grows

I only have management experience. I donated my time. I was told I would be paid, but in the end, I was only paid for my first term as Prime Bimbo. The second one was only half paid, due to the shut-down of pay-pal. The third was un-paid completely. This is a truly bad business model to be sure.
I'm really laughing as Master Bimbo is now earning B$, and not even moderating the forum, or stopping cheaters.
My first term was donated to a charity, as it was the original concept. It is just silly when when the owner cannot keep any focus on a plan for any more than 4 months.
I'm so sorry actually to the member's of this game that we lost his interest's.
He had 'high ideal's', but when the political aspect of this game was ignored by the player's he also lost interest.
There was more going on backstage, and it was very political !!!
Losing Pay-Pal broke his heart, and that was emotional to him.
I cannot fix that now..... Yes, I can write to him, but to what end?

We just wanted Miss Bimbo Back...... Yet it died because politics...... Hackers who decided to kill it because they wanted to 'take over' from the owner.
It was impossible, because only one person owns the server's. So he tried to do something different, and saw only a second total loss of interest and a second disappointment. Even I've given up on humanity to behave with any sort of moral standards. Even in a game for Bimbo fashion's. So there really is no point to improving anything, if every 'contrary personality' want's to destroy and mock anything made just because they are upset at a single flaw or detail.
My own weekly report's began to upset him, because I would write about different flaws every week. Just 3 at a time, but that get's overwhelming after a years time. Some were fixed, and I did get the Top 10 and Arcade going, and some details in rule's and scoring fixed, but 90% of my report's went ignored.
So It is What it is......... To many reminder's how much work it is to create a game for bimbo's.
I am disappointed in the owner, but I also understand his reasons for ignoring this project right now.
Nobody is interested or educated in being political.
He also didn't take my advice to reduce the 'poll tax' Senator-ship should not cost so much with very little chance of winning an election.
That was just an example of how little the owner understands politics too.

Well...I know I passed on a few ideas on alternative revenue models before...i know he won't do those because they take effort. You saw some of them in IM. I only passed on a few because in the back of my mind I might still do something with it. I only gave a few and if something would have been done with it at that time I probably would have been willing to code most of it myself at the time. hell...I could have dropped in in person and set something up. I am over there every now and then anyways.
As far as servers...yikes...no idea why a company of this size would own their own. It is ridiculously cheap to rent for volumes of this size...I mean seriously cheap. If someone wants to rack their own for something to do this volume...big deal...do it i guess...you don't need high passage so I mean a few k would set up more than you would ever need. either way...the requirements to host something like this or their other stuff is nominal. only advantage to using your own servers is if you have several different access point (sites) and they can share load....which I guess they do to some degree...so. I have my own servers and I also rent. I have my own for specific reasons including hosting (yes, I provide hosting services)...but mainly it is for propriety development. however...most of the high volume and secure business matters are done via other hosts...people specialize in that and by doing so do it cheaper and more securely than I can. The advantage with my hosting is that I can offer dedicated tunneling. The cost of the dataline rental alone for hosting this site itself makes it more expensive than renting though....by a lot...but I have the sneaking suspicion they are sharing that line for multiple services. I guess he feels that with Immersive and Secret that he wants to do it in-house. To each their own I guess...it is likely splitting hairs on which makes more sense when including the other entities he deals with. At any rate...point is "owning" servers is a pretty archaic way of looking at things. It is not required and is generally more expensive to maintain...no way a company of this size is saving money by having their own. Only advantage is that you own the way it is used 100% and control the data 100%...those can also be cons
