Hello Ximboland
So I would like to begin an important debate on the role of the Justice Minister And alo appoint some future ministers for future terms.
By now I think we all realise what an important and difficult position Justice Minister is within our community and so I would appreciate it if we can come together and work out the best way to organise ourselves moving forward.
Firstly thanks very much to the current incumbent in the most difficult role - the right honourable @KatieBoutique.
some background on the role:
So simultaneously to this thread I have also started a thread in the Xemocracy arena with the aim of updating our Ximboland constitution.
It is this constitution as well as Twitters terms of service that the Justice Minister has to use as a guide for them in turn to interpret and establish their own set of termly sub-laws.
Essentially at present we are governed by 4 sets of laws - the UKs laws (where we are based), the Ximboland constitution, Twitters terms of service and the Justice Ministers set of temly (3 months) sub laws.
It is the Justice Ministers role to interpret this complex myriad of laws and then govern Ximboland with the help and support of the other ministers, their appointed fashion police and you the Ximbo public. So as you can see it is a bloody tricky job! No wonder only the bravest of Ximbos are up to the task!
In order to ensure democracy is safe and to keep Ximboland away from the evil of dictatorship like they have in facebookland and twitterland we have integrated a number of 'systems' or 'fail safes' to ensure that we never fall under dictatorship and suffer the same fate as Twitterland =
A government of ministers
3 month terms
The Justice Ministers in position are chosen due to their alternating political influences eg left leaning/rules based governance followed by right leaning/freedom based governance
A political system that is shared governance between Miss Bimbo (admin) and the PX led government (you).
So the good news is that we can say we are the closest thing in the world and on the internet to a democracy! Hurrah - thanks for your hardwork and help in creating this and getting even this far!
However the bad news is that we have a very complicated and flawed system that is far from perfect and still causes a lot of conflict and headaches for everyone.
Some problems and issues with the role of Justice Minister in Ximboland -
1) The interpretation of our constitution and the rules set out by the Justice Minister means that one Ximbos justice is another Ximbos oppression.
2) There is no legal framework or recourse to remove the Justice Minister. The Justice minister can only be removed when their 3 month term runs out
3) The position is powerful but lonely. One needs very thick skin to be able to withstand the constant abuse and vitriol that inevitably comes their way. It's not pleasant.
4) Instead of having a dictator indefinitely we now have a system whereby we have a dictator for 3 months. It could be argued that having one single good dictator forever or indefinitely is actually better than a series of bad dictators for 3 months only.
5) Ximboland has come to be defined by whomever is the Justice Minister. This is not right - we are much more than that.
So the tricky question for us to answer is how do we improve this brilliant and unique but flawed system of governance of ours ?
How can we stop this one position from defining the whole of Ximboland?
It is apparent that many people believe Ximboland is defined by whom is the Justice Minister which is not ideal. One potential solution is to limit the communication settings of the Justice Minister ie no pop ups, they can only post in the Xemocracy arena, no dms and nowhere else during the course of their term ie make their role more serious and behind the scenes.,
