Unless your labia are actively interfering with sex and causing pain, I'd say don't do it. They're very sensitive and having someone "chop them down to size" will just lesson your own pleasure in the long term, and possibly even cause permanent damage. Every woman is different, and all should be valued and called beautiful.

Oh, never do something just because someone once told you something is wrong with you or your body. Just forget that man and his words. People tend to say stupid things to others without thinking, but it doesn't mean something is wrong with you. Chances are good something is wrong with them since they don't think so act in insensitive way or they are just being malicious. They are probably just stupid and ignorant and not worth of your attention and worrying.
Personally I am pro beauty interventions, as long as they are safe and if they really may improve person's 'feel good' experience. Have to admit, even I am being pro beauty interventions, some of them are indeed invasive and kinda scary. Before decide anything, inform yourself very well about pros and cons and possible health or other issues they may cause. And always remember, don't so such things because of someone else, only because of you and your own satisfaction.
