the purpose of the good faith policy is to allow FPs a little bit of leeway outside of what is literally written in the rules. e.g., if someone insults something or pokes fun at something about another user that is not listed in the protected categories, but is still meant to dehumanize or otherwise mistreat, that would be where the good faith policy comes into play. i have been on the receiving end of over-moderation and extremely liberal interpretations of rules in the past and have no intention of letting that slide while i’m minister of justice, because i know how frustrating it can be. and, as cherri said, any player who thinks a moderation action was unfair has total freedom to reach out about it publicly or privately.
i’m not going to mention the specific issue because it would be very clear who its about, but there has already been an instance of someone being reported for something and we elected not to moderate because it was a political opinion that did not inherently involve the dehumanization or insult of other people, and we felt that moderating in that case would set a bad precedent.
lastly, this thread is quickly being derailed from its original purpose. if you would like you can continue the conversation elsewhere or make a new thread, but i’m going to ask that discussion of rules or moderation in this thread stop here. thank you!
