I enjoyed the story of your grandfather and relatives, HeavenLeigh. Personally, I'm more agnostic than atheist. With the billions of stars and planets that are in the universe, and billions of years we've been evolving and drifting along, it seems a bit unrealistic that God randomly smacks her spirit into a human body a couple thousand years ago. Since I can't disprove God and since you can't prove She exists either, I'll just imagine her with perfectly arched eyebrows, glossy lips, natural FF breasts and an ass to kill for.

This is an interesting Quote to me, because it define's in mortal term's, the concept of Catholic "purgatory"..
I am not Catholic myself, but I read the King Jame's version, and was reminded about how many book's from the original Dead Sea scroll's were omitted in the effort's to create a Bible for the ' Common-Man ' by the counsel of Nicea 325 AD.
In the interest's of education, I read the translation's of the so called, Aphropihical Text's. I did so because they contained information not deemed suitable for common and un-educated people in the middle of the 'dark ages' by a clergy bent on preserving a power-base, OVER the ignorant people.
Reincarnation was one of those principles that was omitted by the early translator's of the Bible. Purgatory, in concept was also changed very drastically, into being a place of HELL, instead of being a place where souls gain additional knowledge to prepare for another LIFE-time.
I can only speak for myself, but I do believe in reincarnation as a Christian. To many part's of my life speak to it's truth. Where did I learn to Fly airplane's, in the age that video game's didn't exist, and yet the very first training flight, I took at 14 year's old, I knew instinctively, how to fly. To the point my instructor was falling asleep the moment I took off from the airport and remained asleep while I practiced what I chose to do..... Did I put the aircraft in DANGER? Yes I DID, because of my age and lack of the knowledge of the LAWS governing the air-space. But for some reason the man kept falling asleep, and I felt comfortable with it.
I was waking him up only as the aircraft was running out of fuel and he had to make communication with the control tower for landing. I never felt any danger, or confusion about actually flying the aircraft. Dealing with Human LAW, caused me anxiety as a child.
I also had a sudden fear of height's and fire. Dream's of the situations I could never have been subjected to while in my current human form. ( Could it possibly be, I died in Aerial Combat during a war? Then sent back to learn a LESSON about arrogance and self perceived; invincibility. )
How can a 6 year old sing Oprah, or play a violin, or compose Music like Mozart did totally blind and deaf.
Where did such skills come from, but another 'Life-time'. Lucky that they could remember it, but children are not tainted by the disbelief HUMAN'S teach them......
What about LOVE being an energy source for the GOD'S.....

To this day, I am thrilled watching my grown child succeed in what they do, and gain energy from knowing I gave them the tools they used to succeed in life. Everything they do is now for the wife and children they love....
This is just a cycle of life we all spend our live's seeking to attain's in a small measure........

While I generally just refer to myself as an Atheist (mostly because it's easiest for people to comprehend), I agree with the ideas HeavenLeigh, Hypnotica, and Vivi have been putting out. There is an Otherside, where our souls go and we reflect on the things we've learned in our human bodies, until we decide to come back for another lifetime here. We choose to live human lives in order to learn things about existence. The problem is that when we're here we don't remember exactly what we came here to learn, so you mostly just have to hope that the life you planned out for yourself this time around will guide you in the right direction. My aunt is a psychic medium and she speaks to various beings in that realm. Usually she'll refer to them as angels, guides, God, and other things that are tied to Christianity, but really you don't have to use those names and it still has the same meaning. A being more evolved than us, and more evolved even than our spirits are, is the one she calls God, and God allows us the opportunity to come here and be in these bodies. I like to think of that being as "The Universe, my creator", because I don't agree with popular conceptions of the Christian God, and that's just what I associate the word God with.
