I haven't seen too much drag stuff, but I have seen it live, it was incredibly funny and I loved their catty interaction with the audience and I hope to see more in the future, unfortunately not much happens in my city.

A bunch of people have addressed drag shows and children saying it's a little odd so I thought I should express my take because, I mean, everyone else is!?

First of all, drag is a form of adult entertainment, it started as such and I think it still is such. Yes you could remove all the "adult content" but at that point is it really drag, or something people/kids want to watch? Isn't what makes drag entertaining the bitchiness, raunchiness and over the top attitudes? Drag is great but watering something down, when it's meant to be over the top seems totally counter intuitive. Not to mention what are you left with? Some gay guy in a funny costume talking to kids? What is the point, what are you left with? Getting in early with LGBT material to promote acceptance and it's an ok attitude? Maybe I'm cynical but wouldn't it perpetuate the stereotype the already problematic stereotype that gay people are incredible gaudy etc?

Finally, I saw people mention earlier that kids like big and colourful costumes something associated with drag. To that I say, you're right and that's why current kids related entertainment includes big and colourful costumes. At best it's pointless at worst it's harmful. Unfortunately we can't assure we're in the "best" timeline.

i love drag!!! there aren't many shows in my town (a little too rural) but i really enjoyed the ones i've been to. i have a special love for sasha velour because my dad knows her, so i met her once when i was very small. i myself am uninterested in family friendly drag, i think sexuality is a vital facet of queer art. however, i'm not a drag queen so i'm not gonna tell drag queens what they should and shouldn't do. lol.

I feel like people often forget how much drag has impacted the queer community. It really has been a huge way for people to be able to show self expression and for queer people to meet others and get a support system.
