If you hate the environment then you must have a really depressive life. You are surrounded by it

Hello, I wanted to start a thread about Bimbo views on the environment but before doing so searched the term in the forum. I found this thread to be the only one and was surprised that there weren't more. It got me wondering even more that are us here in Bimboland that shallow that we don't consider this a worthy issue to talk about more in the forum. Maybe there are more important things for Bimbolanders to chat about, like the latest hair extensions or how they can make their lips look bigger (what's that fashion about anyway). Anyway, on with my post.

I've noticed on the debates pages that many people state that the Earth is past the point in which we can save it. I wonder how many people actually think that and that maybe it's for that reason they don't consider their individual actions to be important. I have always enjoyed nature and have been fortunate to be able to escape the city and enjoy nature throughout my life. I feel that its for this reason that I have become more environmentally aware. I have come to realise that an individual I can make a difference, I started my whole family on the journey, they all now consider before they throw away. They consider what to buy or not buy. They eat more plant based food. They consume less as a whole. So from my individual action I have change the actions of my family, not only that but my actions have also helped neighbours to discover the that they too don't need a whole lot of that "stuff" they see advertised on the TV.

So in summery my belief is that YOU as an individual can influence many of those around you to become more environmentally friendly.

I also think that it is not too late to save the planet, or rather it isn't too late to save the human race from mass extinction, after all the climate has been changing since the earth formed and there have been mass extinctions before. Let us hope that we can bring about a halt to the mass extinction of humans and the natural environment around us.

I don't claim to be perfect by any means, I can't afford an EV so I have to use an ICEV (internal combustion Engine Vehicle). I would use public transport if there was infrastructure to allow it. This is only one area that my principles fall down. There are others to, however I do try to offset the detrimental things I do by choosing (if costs permit) to use other more sustainable items in my life. Single use plastics haven't featured heavily in my life for over twenty years for instance. I haven't bought a roll of cling film (for myself) all my adult life. I re-use every plastic pot that passes though my home and make sure that all those that can't be re-used go though the recycling system. There are lots of examples, I could go on and on about making the scales balance or tip in favour or the environment. One area I feel particularly bad about is having more electrical gadgets than I really need. Having said that I have far fewer than most people do.

I think I've wafted on long enough for now...

Hi.
I think the reason why there aren't more threads on this topic quite simply is that this is a game, and a lot of players don't view it as the arena to discuss serious issues such as the climate crisis. You are welcome to, of course. :)

That being said, I definitely don't think you should feel bad about not being able to afford an electric vehicle! There have been many studies on the matter and during the production period, an EV produces more pollution than a regular car. Also, once those batteries die, they currently have nowhere to go and can't be repurposed, so they are just stored, again causing unnecessary pollution and garbage. And last, when you really think about it, who do you know that only drives an EV? Norway, where I live, is globally known for being the top electric car consumer, but what is conveniently not mentioned is that people here never have an EV as their one and only car. Every EV owner also owns or has access to a gas-driven car as well, they just drive these EV's to avoid road taxes and ferry costs and to be able to drive in the lanes usually reserved for buses and taxis. ;)

Thats really interesting news about Norway. As an aside, Norway is one of my favourite countries. I love the feeling of calmness that you get whenever you venture out. I have visited twice since 2011 and have found it to be the most beautiful country I have visited. I have also found the people to be very welcoming and friendly. Those visits didn't do much for my carbon footprint I know but one holiday a year somewhere as lovely as Norway isn't going to make me feel too bad about myself.
