I became Goth back when I was 16 and after discovering It's Black Friday. Discovered lots of new music since then and re-discovered my passion for certain subjects (e.g. historical fashion). I am still Goth, but I also participate in the Emo subculture and I also love Dark Academia. Dark Academia and Goth I can easily blend together, Emo is a bit harder but I don't mind. I even discovered a new band last night - Detoxi - because of scrolling through a thread on here. LOL

Hello fellow goths 
while I consider myself as a goth and metal girl (love both music and style) can't say I am dressed up all goth from head to toe. Maybe it goes with the age, or maybe turning the whole goth sub-culture into fashion only became repulsive.
Same goes for metal, having more spiked bracelets or new rock boots doesn't make you a metal head. It's way deeper... I was so pleased seeing Mille Petrozza live wearing silky dark gray shirt and black pants. He was classy, it fits his age, didn't look like 50yo clown in leather, yet he still rocks. I still love wearing corsets, chains and fishnets, ofc when it is fitting, otherwise it would be funny. As long as it fits me I will wear it, but clothes doesn't make a person and clothes alone doesn't make a sub-culture what it is. It rather reflects the sentiment and spirit

i kind of identify as some type of unknown alternative- my style and interest overlap with plenty of the gothic subculture but i also have way too many fingers dipped into other interests to ever identify myself as 100% gothic. i'd say my style is a weird mesh of 90s romantic and nu goth, nu goth is very easy for everyday wear and a lot of 90s romantic looks were very soft and sleek which is just- yes.
my favorite clothing piece is probably my black high-low dress with lace bell sleeves, high collar and boob window. it gives a very post-modern victorian mourning "oh woe is me, i'm now a young eligible widow with many prospects" vibe that i love.

Probably high boots, knee high, over the knees, any boots. Tho not so practical for 30+ degrees atm. Dresses as well, either short or long, don't like smt in the middle.
Literature suggestions... A night in the lonesome October, quite goth but with animals/familiars in the main roles. Short novel but super fun!

i've been into the goth style since i was a kid, both my mum and my auntie were goths, my auntie still is. my fav goth icon is obviously eric draven, especially brandon lee in the 90's movie, i chose my name after the series:p
