If you could travel back in time what century would you travel back to? I would travel back to the pioneer days and try out life  as a pioneer for a while. I loved reading  Laura Ingalls Wilder books and would love to experience life as a pioneer woman for a while.

American 70's. I would love to go to Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix and a lot of this kind of bands concerts. Smoke weed with my friends in a basement, playing cards, going to wood's parties, that will be awesome.

I'm a bit like BEBE about the year that I would like to take a vacation to experience.  In books a frontier life seems so romantic.  I'd love to try it out, but it really wasn't a pleasant life for a common woman to endure.  I was taught the skills to do so, but would I want to live an entire life doing such chores every day till you die?  NO.  My mother was the last of the generation of pioneers, in my family.  Religiously she taught me how to be a woman from that era.  As an older teen, I didn't apprecate what she was teaching me however.  I thought her lessons were totally useless at the time.  I had a lot to learn.
A typical females life pre-18th century was one of servitude.  I would only like to go back in time to my first bad life choice.  Running away from home at 16 years old was a mistake I wish I could take back.  I had to do things I regret now.  I don't think living in another time would change who I am, but would only serve to display me as a typical witch to be burned at the stake, in the 13th century. (ect.)  Just going back in time with the information contained inside my brain could totally change the course of history.  What could be done with my knowledge of aviation, in the 13th century.  Gunpowder was just being invented.  What would the 13th century do with someone who could build a flyable aircraft from scratch?
   Think about all the skills.
From casting the motor, to the mechanical bindings. Fluid dynamics and even the most basic physics, would all be witchcraft in the 13th century.  I'm only using this as a singular example of a skill I have.  What if I invented a microscope in the 13th century?  I know how they are made, in detail.   Imagine how simple it would be for me to have an automobile made with the right amount of man-power and money.  Parts might be hard to find in 1200 AD, but the ancient  Egyptians were building some rather impressively perfect pyramids too, long before that.  The Egyptians had the ability to make molds for caste metal parts.  If they just knew how to put kinetic energy into motion, we all might be driving hover cars today.  They did in effect invent the double wish-bone suspension on chariots.  An old tech, that was reinvented for modern tech. How much could the 13th century be changed even with my very simple understanding of how gasoline is made and used somewhat efficiently.  What about my knowledge of weapons of war?  Even the mere knowledge of the past allows you to have an advantage over the people stuck in that current time.

So the question as I see this topic as, is how would you would end up changing the past?

Just picking a period in time doesn't mean you would get to live the life of the most famous person during that time period.  You might just have to stay as invisible as possible if you went back in time.  A modern woman would be very obvious even in the 1800's, as someone displaced in time.  I know that every bit of acting skill I could possibly use would eventually fail.  Women just were not educated in anything besides GOD, family, and household duties.  Anything else was considered subversive to your husband..  Great strides have been made for sexual equality, and today is better than it ever has been in the past. I'm not even a very outspoken person in modern-life but even I would need to stay EXTREEMLY silent if I could travel back in time.

SuperGlamorousGirl!!

70's just like l said! Those times must have been awesome, so much fun and psychedelia!

Medieval times is another time I'd visit. I love old castles and knights stories. It must have been difficult to live in that time, but I'd like to see. I was always perturbed about religion in those ages and how spreading fear was used to control people.
Also I'd like to see if dragons existed, but I guess that's impossible Lol.

The only century that wasn't hell for coloured people was the 20th century, and even then was only the second half of it. So if I had to choose, I would go back to the 80s. Mind you, I'm 33 now so I was born in the 80s but I would like to have been an adult in the 80s.
