I liked the Interview with a Vampire movie! Excellent acting by Kirsten Dunst; I felt she really embodied a woman trapped in the too-small body of a child. The aesthetics and mood, the ennui of being immortal, the moral quandary about being essentially an obligatory carnivore that ate people. Pretty good movie.

I watched begin again with kiera knightley and mark ruffalo yesterday, had seen it in the movies maaany years ago and decided to watch it again AND I FORGOT HOW MUCH OF A FEEL GOOD MOVIE IT IS!!!! def gonna watch it again when i need a pick-me-up :') still doesnt beat my ultimate ultimate ultimate favourite movie of all time, fried green tomatoes. PLEASE do yourselves a favour and watch it, it is so unbelievably good

some movies i watched recently that i rly enjoyed:
a woman's torment (1977), SO SUPER CAMPY but a really enjoyable watch imo, deals w a mentally unstable woman's descent into madness at an idolated beach house. lots of themes of the fear that comes w having ur solitude disrupted, something i definitely deal with. ofc its from the 70s so it's not unproblematic in its depiction of mental illness but like i get her....she makes sense to me....and tara chung delivers a fantastic performance so i def recommend
beauty and the beast (1978), a gorgeous retelling of the og beauty and the beast story. the costumes and set are amazing and defin itely the best part of the movie. the plot is pretty basic if uve read the story but overall a good movie and again those COSTUMES especially julie's dresses
shogun's joy of torture (1968), HUGE trigger warning for this one if ur not used to exploitation cinema. it's pretty gnarly but honestly not quite as bad in terms of gore by modern standards. lots of violence against women but the point of the movie is to illustrate the horrors of the edo era of japan and cruel and unusual punishment in general. honestly i was not expecting a harrowing account of medical debt, repressed sexual desire, and the spiral into insanity caused by an artist's obsession w his masterpiece. if u can stomach misogyny and video nasties i honestly think it's a good movie (once again tw for period-accurate violence against women tho)
krampus (2015), the best part of this movie for me was the amazing cast. I LOVE U ADAM SCOTT AND TONI COLLETTE!!! other than that huge props to this movie for creating a genuinely scary and unsettling pg-13 horror movie, which is pretty difficult to do when u have those constraints. and u KNOW i love a horror movie with practical effects!!!!! the creature designs actually freaked me out and im usually pretty desensitized to horror movies. a very very good holiday scary movie. my only gripe is the insinuation that if ur rightfully upset w ur family for being cruel and ruining xmas that ur bringing doom and death upon them but ehhh i can overlook it for the good stuff
the mist (2007), a wonderful adaptation of the stephen king short story that i also hugely rec to read. it honestly looked exactly like i imagined when reading the story and it works super well for the screen. the cgi is.....kind of funny but like its 2007 and the freaky fucked up creature designs make up for it. tw for insects lol but some of that freaky shit will stay with me!!!! and that ENDING is so fucked up

OMG BELLADONNA OF SADNESS AND MAY those are 2 of my alltime favs!!!!! i adore both of them sm, may is so macabre but relatable like i get her....and the animation for belladonna of sadness is so gorgeous, justice for jeanne!!!

Recently watched Decision to Leave by Park Chan-wook and I'm still thinking about it.. also watched Bones and All but I felt that it had too many plot holes
