I have just been offered the chance to duel a new bimbo. I chose not to. However, I DID blast her for her choice of names. Her handle is both offensive and racist. (It is [redacted], if anyone should ask). I think she should be banned from the site. I told her how stupid I thought her selection of name is and suggested that this kind of offense behavior was foreign to Bimboland. I hope she chooses the honorable option of bimbo suicide. She is a level one legal alien. And true citizen of Bimboland would be as outraged as I. There are many who use feeble humor in their handles. Sometimes it is offensive. But this shit is beyond the pale.

You're right that is a very offensive name. But that bimbo is hardly new and she hasn't been online in months. Regardless I agree, that account should be removed.

I agree that this username is offensive and should not be allowed. But going forward, I think we can discuss the issue without using the word itself, since it is so offensive.

Gosh the amount of offensive names I've seen already... And the worst part of it is that not even all of 'em are lvl 1! Some have actually climbed to lvl 10 or even like 20! Is there any way to like, report 'em outside of textin' an admin or the Prime Bimbo? :/

Actually, I'd like to clear some stuff up while we're discussin' this. Like, obviously racist stuff is not to be tolerated. But what about homophobic names? There's like this guy who named himself lilsomethin' and I frankly found it demeanin' towards the gay community. And what about super super sexual names? I can't remember any off the top of my head but like, I'm 100 % sure I've seen names referrin' to female and male body parts in super lewd ways. Hell, I was harassed by one..

Like, where is the line of good taste? :/

It's a bit tricky. Names with the n word are absolutely not okay. However, the black community has made an effort to "take back" the word, and subsequently modified the word. So it is easy to distinguish when the term is being used offensively, and when it is being used as a symbol of camaraderie. I would be hesitant to report a name that contained the n word ending with "-a" instead of "-er." I am not a person of color, so I cannot speak for this community. I am simply doing my best to represent the people of color who play this game and may choose to leave this game indefinitely because of its historic lack of response to this word.

There is a similar effort in the queer community for the word Alexstasza alluded to. I am a member of the queer community, and I have had this insult hurled at me. I find it extremely offensive, but I don't represent all of the queer community. There are a lot of LGBTQ+ people here, some of whom feel differently. To them, the word is empowering. But it does not have the same modification as the n word, so it is difficult to determine if someone means it offensively or in solidarity. I feel the same way about several lewd names. As a teenager, I was several times called a "cum dumpster," and I appreciate that there is a user who has taken back this insult and let it empower them.

Tl;dr it's complicated? But I reported the user of which this topic was originally written.

I would say no based on these examples. To be fair, some things that are 'slurs' would be allowed for some to say. For example, lilf*ggot, if I got that right, I think that's okay for a gay man to say but not for most other people (like me, which is why I've censored it). But with racial slurs especially you can't know for sure the actual person's race. (I guess you can't tell if they're a gay man necessarily either but I think so.) Therefore it should probably have a blanket ban on it - not as a judgement of black people that they can't say it, that depends on loads of other circumstances and is a whole other discussion. On just the discussion of whether very serious slurs should be allowed on this website, I would say no, they shouldn't.

Also, I've seen another very offensive name which isn't a slur but is an offensive statement. So where would that come in this conversation? Also, what would happen with these names? Would the people themselves be removed? (For inactive people on level 1, I would say yes, just delete their accounts lol.) For others? Should names be moderated in some way so they can't choose these names to begin with? That would work to completely block offensive terms but there would be ways they could still say other offensive statements or Idk replace a 'i' with a '1' so... Should their names be changed or they get deleted?

I suppose they should be reported yes. I remember reporting 1 person before for offensive comments as well as offensive name. It's the only person I've reported but I don't know if they were removed because I can't remember their name now lol, just that it was a himbo.

But anyway, tl;dr lol, racial slurs should be all banned, and perhaps some other of the most offensive slurs, but reclaimed words shouldn't necessarily be banned, or sexual names. I think the simplest thing to say would be to block this word in particular that has been brought up ^^^ and if there are other specific slurs used that people have seen, to ban those too, but otherwise to take it case by case - so if someone uses a homophobic term in a homophobic way, they should be reported and hopefully removed, and same with other reclaimed words if they're used in a way that in a specific case is not in a reclaimed way, but just in an offensive way.

I don't want to be a scold or a nag. I'm not the arbitor of the appropriate and do not wish to be. Good taste and good judgement are, for me, characteristics of the best in bimbodom. There are several among us who may not comply with my taste or may offend what may be my too delicate sensibilities, but as a general response both here and in the real world, I try to take a live and let live attitude.

It is those who intentionally use inflammatory or knowingly offensive language that I have taken aim at - those who belittle the existence or experience of others. Were someone to call himself Pedo Rapist, we should ALL as a community repudiate that person, whether or not we had been the victims of pedophilia or rape. If someone were to call him/herself HitlerDidNothingWrong, again, as a community, we should shun that person. Indeed, every time I see that handle, I shudder with revulsion.

We are a community of (mostly) women (but some not) who are here to enjoy fashion and develop our style, to learn, and to make friends. On the internet we do not have to obey society's rules, true, but we should be sensitive to each other's personhood and wanton disregard of others' sensibilities should be formally addressed in our by-laws.

Yes, the Hitler name is what I was also referring to. I suppose 'Hitler' could also be banned from names, as should those other terms.

It may be a 'joke' but there are many people who are still affected by the Holocaust - Jewish people in Europe especially (though some who emigrated elsewhere also) who lost their ancestor and family, as well as other 'minorities' whose family or ancestors were affected, or killed. That trauma is still in those families.

It shouldn't need to be stated that people are also traumatised by rapists.

I think they should be offered the chance to re-enter the game with a new name. But, as punishment for wanton offensiveness, they should not retain their rank or accumulated points, etc. Let them (or their IP) open a new account and start from scratch again.
