i don't spend much time on it so i don't keep up to date with trends there (i know about the ratatouille musical lol). but yeah a lot of stuff there is super cringe like people lip syncing and dancing seductively. and especially when it's the kids doing that, makes me sooooo uncomfortable. however there are some funny people there and algorithm seems to pick up pretty quickly what you like and don't like. i don't find it very addictive since i still have to skip so many videos until i find something that makes me laugh. tiktok is really the last thing i choose to be on when i'm bored.
Opinions on TikTok
Tiktok is something I will never use. I look at my friend's posts because they don't have any other social media. I'm very insecure so I just think TikTok will just make it worse for me. It's a big social media app/website so it's inevitable that there are shitty people on it, I've seen a lot of really funny stuff on it though so it's definitely not all bad.
I hate that they brought reelz to Instagram to keep up with TikTok.

Tiktok is cool if you know where to go. I’m pretty much exclusively on cat tiktok and toy tiktok. Don’t explore LGBT discourse tiktok or alternative tiktok unless you crave anger and disappointment.

i fr liked tiktok but tbh they INVENTED ''cancelling'' people and most of them tell skinny people to put trigger warnings on a vid where they r showing off their outfits,,, it's so stupid,, like no one has to feel like they need to put a TW on themselves, wtf?!

i would never use tiktok firsthand and even when i open the site on my computer browser when friends send me tiktok links it breaks my browser ... i have a ton of anti-tracking plugins and i think some coding on the tiktok site interacts with it so badly that it Literally breaks my entire browser where i have to alt-f4 out to restart it...
aside from that i think it's uh ... pretty dumb! some funny videos come out of it but from what i've heard about the culture of the app itself it's a fucking nightmare and i'm glad i avoid it at all costs
