this sounds ironic because im spending my time on ximboland, but knowing what i know i'm definitely against. ive seen too many horror stories about botched surgeries due to incompetent doctors that left the patients disabled/with chronic pain etc @___@ its recent rapid rise in popularity only contributes to that because many people arent able to afford celebrity-level surgeons and opt for something cheaper. besides even if there are no physical complications it still can be dangerous. my aunt does injections and she straight up says many of her patients are addicted to it and come back regularly even if theres literally nothing left to fix because their faces are perfect, so. fine in theory because body modifications are cool but nowadays im anti beauty industry.

i think that anybody can get plastic surgery if they want to, but we still have to think critically about it. it's very obvious that women are much more likely to get surgery and that it can be very dangerous. i think there shouldn't be beauty standards so extreme that women have to put themselves in danger to adhere to them

I‘m not totally against plastic surgery although I think for many procedures you should have a certain age

Agreed Jeanne, which is why I'm really against gender-affirming surgeries in those below 21, since they're cosmetic.

I'm torn on plastic surgery. On one hand, what people do with their bodies is literally none of my business and doesn't directly effect me, but I do also think that it can uphold unrealistic beauty standards that can be incredibly harmful. Ultimately, I am team "whatever makes you happy" because it isn't my body, but there are some negative implications to it also especially when beauty standards and trends change so rapidly.

i think people should do whatever makes them happy overall. that's not to say that i really promote plastic surgery though and i think it's harmful when people pretend that it's somehow body positive, but i have had plastic surgery myself. :p i guess i just think if you want it, you should think long and hard about it and try to come to terms with your natural appearance if possible.
