As you may or may not be aware, a month ago we (the forum guardians) changed the forum rules with the express intention of being more strict when it comes to public displays of discrimination and intolerance. We also felt like the previous system allowed for too many warnings before a punishment could be handed out in the most extreme cases, allowing someone to really hurt an individual or entire groups of people in the forums before we could technically do anything about it. However, while we feel like we did a decent job at fixing these two issues and that the current system is still fair to everyone (horrible insults get banned immediately for everyone's sake, small infractions still get plenty of warnings first), we kinda missed the ball when it comes to... well, almost every other rule. We did freshen them up, correcting spelling and grammatical errors but we strove to keep the core message intact, which was a mistake. Yes. we mellowed out some rules (like the no swearing rule) but we could have done more.
A few days ago Pia Margrethe made a very illuminating post (go give it a like, please! ♥) that reminded us the forum rules aren't there to make the atmosphere in the forums stifling and hostile, they're there to allow the player base to enjoy themselves while chatting or spamming their hearts out in frivolous games.
Therefore, we'd like to invite you, the community, to offer feedback on the forum rules. We want to make forum rules that make sense and are just, but more importantly ones that you agree to and are happy with following. We want your honest feedback on the rules, what you think works, what doesn't, what needs tweaking.
How I propose we do this is: you write down the number of the forum rule and comment on it. Having feedback on each specific rule would help us the most. Here is a link to the existing forum rules for reference.
To make posting less of a hassle, we won't be enforcing the double posting rule in this thread (especially as I hope it'll be one of the first to go) but we do encourage you to edit your post if you can do keep your thoughts as concise and organized as possible.
Also this thread isn't meant as a platform for insulting the moderators themselves. We know we're not everyone's best friend and we're not expecting or aiming to change that. The topic of the thread, though, are the forum rules and we appreciate your feedback on them immensely.
