I got into a really heated debate with my husband about it last night and it was incredibly interesting. Please share your thoughts respectfully.

I'm definitely pro-choice as I believe all women should have the right to abortion. Bringing new life into this world is such a big deal, and if a woman is in no position to become a mother it's going to affect that child's life massively (potentially negatively).

Take me for example. I'm an unemployed recent university graduate, not in any serious relationship. If I became pregnant right now, I would have to have an abortion. I suffer from severe anxiety, so some days it's hard enough to take care of myself - let alone a baby! Also I have no money to raise a child, and since my parents are getting divorced soon, my mum can't support me either. As for the guy who had fathered this child, he would be in absolutely no position to have kids and wouldn't be able to do all those things he still wants to do (as a young person). I wouldn't want that for him, don't want to sacrifice potentially having a good career for myself, and definitely don't want to be unable to give a child anything less than the upbringing I think it should deserve. I am not fit to be a mother right now.

Okay so personally I don't think I could go through with an abortion.
However.
I think everyone deserves a choice. Because its not my body, not my place, not my life. Its theirs. Its their decision and just because I myself might not chose it, doesn't mean they shouldn't have the choice.

Anyone who thinks there's 'gray areas' already broke that rule. Because weather its gray or not is not your decision. Its the one who's having the baby.

I'm definitely pro choice. I live in a society that proclaims itself pro life, and that's why abortion is ilegal. That's why many women die every day having such kind of procedure in clandestine places. I think what to do with your body is a completely personal decision, and no one should judge someone for that.

And the gray areas... Considering how this society is right now, how most of the people think, and specially young people and eve more specially young women, I guess if abortion was legal, they would care a lot less about birth-control methods. They wouldn't take abortion seriously. So, maybe making it legal would be counter-productive , but I think, in an ideal situation, that's how it should be. Legal, free and safe for everyone.

I'll always be pro choice, I believe it's a woman's right to do what she wants with her body. Simple as that. I don't care what a woman's reasons are either, it's her life and who am I to judge.

I'm totally pro-choice, everyone should have the right to decide what it's better for themselves. I do not have the right to judge someone for their choices, and I definitely respect other people's ideas and decisions.

My husband began the debate as pro life. When we were done, he claimed to be anti abortion with stipulations. The debate is entirely too long for me to discuss in this point in time, but personally, I believe that a woman's body is hers to do as she wishes, no matter the situation.  He argued that if I needed to be resuscitated wouldn't I be mad if they made the choice not to for me.  To which I responded that I have made human relationships, commitments, and experienced a life worth living, which is completely different from what he asked. It may be insensitive of me, the way I see abortion, but I stand by it. Give her a chance to save herself and possibly save her child\ren from a life of misery. No matter what she decides, I have no right to look down on her, and some old, stuck up, self serving prick doesn't reserve the right to tell some girl he has no intention of helping or walking this journey alongside, tell her how to handle her body. And that's my stance.

I'm pro choice all the way, while I personally no longer have the issue of whether or not to have a child on the plate. it doesn't mean that I crawled under a rock to reside after my child bearing days were over .I see all the protests and arguments and remember that prior to legalization of abortion in The U.S. many very frightened people were forced to turn to illegal, dirty and sometime barbaric methods of abortion .many died horrific, tortured deaths as a result. Do we really want to return to that? or force others into that position? it's not my body so I have no right to decide for someone else what is best for them. I believe that the person facing this should make their decision based on factual information not scare stories or guilt trips in the end doing so will either produce a child or an abortion only the/couple facing the issue can decide what is the best choice for them/her.
