I sometimes don't get the pop-up notifications (daily login, daily relationships, some forum announcements). My theory is that sometimes having multiple pop-ups in the queue can result in them being cancelled out.
That said, I don't pay really close attention to my diamonds & probably wouldn't notify if I got 250.
