Of course, concentration camps isn't even a Holocaust-specific term so this argument was already extremely flawed but nonetheless, it was incredibly effective in shutting down people from accurately calling the camps "concentration camps," making it harder to talk about the potentially genocidal actions the US has been taking at the border. Sorry to get #political and I don't mean to jump on you, I just feel like it's important to be very careful in evoking Holocaust imagery. Interestingly, "Straight Pride" has been adopted by some white supremacist groups to cloak their ideologies and make it more palatable to the mainstream, so calls of straight pride should be met with extreme weariness. Nonetheless, the majority of "straight pride" people seem to be ignorant straight people who don't understand how power structures work and who do often want to scale back LGBT rights, but rarely want to like. Systematically exterminate LGBT people. What you said isn't terrible or anything, using Nazis as a generic evil/oppressive group is pretty common, I just really think it's a habit that needs to be curtailed.I like you Septum_cat and I say this as a friend.I'm assuming that you are well-intended with the heterosexual pin option, but honestly, a heterosexual pin would be nearly equivalent to a swastika.I do not mean to insult you, but rather to be informative. I hope I am explaining this well. The reason pins and flags exist for LGBTQ communities is because we are a minority group who are denied access to basic rights and are persecuted and murdered because of how we were born. The pins are to bring attention to this, to give others in the group a sign that they are not alone. Heterosexuals and white people are the majority group and already have rights that can be taken for granted. I mean no disrespect, but the idea of a heterosexual pin really grosses me out.In America where I live, there are heterosexual pride groups which are full of hateful and discriminatory people who wish to strip LGBTQ individuals from protections and the same rights as everyone else.
