@shop workers, here's the solution if someone is bothering you.
That or report them to the PB or their associated SM.

Jamie's messaging is outside of the FGs' jurisdiction so we can't do anything about it. FWN can. The reason we're asking you to calm down is to prevent what is likely to turn into either a fight between two or more individuals or the event where multiple people gang up on one person and bash on them repeatedly with insults and yelling. Neither is something anyone wants to see in the forums.

I have not made a request in days!

You blocked because you did not want to interact with me, because I made an off color comment about a certain type of gay male, which you took as an attack on all gays, but you attack me every chance you get. You nothing but a hypocrite!

Jamie, kindly stop talking about the subject of gay people. Your comment way back when was grossly offensive and there's nothing you can do about it - it is your legacy. However, it would do you a lot of good if you avoid this topic in the future 'cuz it will very likely open old wounds.

I'll kindly ask you both to get some air if that's a possibility - quarantine and all. I don't wanna ban you over arguing 'cuz neither of you have broken any rules so a ban is ludicrous. But I would love it if you two could go punch something in a video game or whatever you do to relieve stress. You can thank me later.

And on that note I'll kindly ask myself to stop saying "kindly" so much. It's repetitive and primitive :D

I'm wondering if the shop workers would be interested in making a rule that limits the number of requests that an individual can make each week (or month) to decrease annoyingly excessive requests. It might be beneficial to create some limits, since some people are hoarding shop requests like toilet paper. And if people ignore this rule, maybe they lose access to any requests for some amount of time. ;)

Thank you Vita. If we're voting then I vote yes for this, though I am a designer, not a shopworker.

Here's how I think it's apropriate to ask someone to create shop items in private, btw.

You look at a person's profile first to see if they mention anything about requests. If they do and they imply they're not taking them, stop there. If they imply they are taking requests pitch your idea, politely. Keep in mind that even then, an artist might not be interested in that specific project, in which case it can't be helped. And if the artist has mentioned they are taking commissions you can always ask if creating shop items is included in this offer (if this has not been specified). However things to note; an artist can't promise their work will make it into the shop. Most of the time it will, but sometimes the quality control process the shopworkers uphold will require an item be edited/cleaned before it can be uploaded, it's really unlikely that an item will be seen completely unfixable though. In addition, artists offering commissions generally require real money as payment. We gotta eat too :) An artist will usually mention if they accept things like in-game currency, in their commission info.

In case you're were wondering, I don't take requests (I take on ones on my own terms which I see in the threads if I'm interested) and I don't offer shop items on commission. I have a long list of projects I wish to do and limited time.

Her question was addressed to the shop workers, but thank you for your input.

You have a point, it's important to ask designers if they want to make something and respect their wishes if they don't have the time or inclination to acquiesce to their requests. The same goes for recolors.

In case you were wondering, I don't allow others to recolor items I made (I take on ones on my own terms which I see in the threads if I'm interested) and I don't offer recolors on comission. I have a long list of projects I wish to do and limited time.

This discussion got kinda hot... My thoughts on this: sometimes designers take some requests. Some recoloring requests are not really 'recolor' requests only. Sometimes someone asks for item to be modified in a specific way. I remember requests like that one. Some requests take more time for working on them. For instance, if someone ask for some item to be recolored in that color, shop worker or designer who pick that requests might add more colors. That being said, it takes more time to add these items to the shop because it's not only one item anymore.

Designers help with requests. Not all of them, but most of active ones do. They don't need to do that, but they can if they wish. It's the same with shop workers. Not all us accept requests at the moment and not all of us are active at the moment. I do accept requests, but if only one or few of us do that then you can understand it may become overwhelming at some point. We made the list with requests and try to update it from time to time with new requests. But sometimes we just don't have a time to go through all of them or at least not that fast. When it comes to adding items we have to add both new additions to shop and recolor/refit requests. Sometimes we have to pick which ones to add that day if there are too many items. Don't forget that even if designers do some recolor requests, they stay for shop workers to add them to shop. If there are not many active shop workers at that time it results in having one or two shop workers doing all the job.

If not all shop workers accept requests, what's the point in asking them about the limit of requests? Yet, shop workers who accept requests might not accept each and all of them even if there is a limit. Let us deal with that because not all of us is active lately and shop workers and designers who are not currently active can't discuss this topic at the moment, can't give their input and can't tell if they actually accept any request in the first place.

I have to agree. While the thought process is good, I don’t think we can currently implement a request limit. I haven’t been able to add things for a while due to some real life problems, but I can at least add my opinion on this.

I think it might be a good idea to just issue a blanket statement saying that requests might not get done soon, or ever, depending on their complexity and amount of manpower on hand. It doesn’t mean they’re bad requests necessarily, but we aren’t paid, and we don’t have enough help or time to get it done. Like LillyAnn said, when recolors are requested, we typically make multiple recolors (even up to 20, 30 or more at a time), which all have to be uploaded and correctly positioned. We do this because if one color is requested, most likely someone else will request another color at some point in the future, so we might as well tackle it now.
And that takes a significant amount of time, significantly more than if we were just to make one single recolor alone.
And just on top of the requests, we have regular updates from designers to upload, some of which have been backlogged for weeks (I apologize I’ve been away and haven’t been able to get to them).

Anyways implementing a limit probably wouldn’t help just because there are likely requests that we wouldn’t take on anyway even if a limit were implemented.
