hey ximboland ♡ i thought this would be kind of fun and helpful! what’s your skin type and what does your skincare routine look like?

i’m always curious how other people take care of their skin, especially because everyone’s skin reacts so differently.

i’ll go first:

my skin type: sensitive, oily, acne-prone

am routine:
cerave foaming facial cleanser
good molecules hyaluronic acid serum
bubble level up balancing gel moisturizer
eucerin clear skin spf 50 sunscreen lotion

pm routine:
speedy cleansing oil
cerave foaming facial cleanser
good molecules hyaluronic acid serum
differin adapalene gel 0.1%
bubble level up balancing gel moisturizer

once a week in my pm routine i skip the adapalene and use glycolic acid before my hyaluronic acid instead. i also use the aztec secret indian healing clay mask once a week.

my skin is definitely a “high maintenance but worth it” situation. but this routine has helped a lot with breakouts and texture.

drop your skin type + routine below if you’re comfortable sharing. i genuinely love hearing what works for different people!

Oh what an interesting forum idea! I'm a very low maintenance skin type.

Only water and olay spf 30 (not my primary sunscreen! i just use this because it specifically has made my skin feel better than other options) in the morning

CereVe normal to dry in the evening.

I also change my pillowcases really often and sleep with a bonnet to keep my hair oil away from my skin.
To defend my really barebones routine, I don't wear makeup! I would definitely need to do more if I did.

i love that though! if it works for your skin that’s all that matters, and the clean pillowcases and bonnet combo is actually so underrated.

exactly! the annoying part about skincare is that its SO genetics and environment dependent so no skincare advice is gonna work for everyone. and I've LOVED my bonnet its a new addition but it makes my hair so soft!

this thread is a great idea! i like testing new facial products & word-of-mouth is my favorite way 2 hear about them lol.

i have sensitive/dry skin so i like using a lot of moisturizers & face masks & stuff. i've been on that k-beauty skin care regime since i was like...20, 21? & i think it rly makes a difference
rn i use round lab's 1025 dokdo cleansing tissue 2 take off makeup & then i cleanse w/ micellar water & the tatcha indigo balm. sometimes if my skin feels clogged i'll use a harsher cleanser like the rosette white clay lift or senka perfect whip. throughout the day i usually keep a rosewater & glycerin spray on my desk & hydrate with that + dr jart's ceramidin cream around my nose since that's the part that tends 2 get driest. umm in the mornings before i do makeup i'll put on a PDRN eye patch set & at night I apply a 0.1% retinol/retinal eye serum (SOME BY MI) & collagen facial serum (Sungboon Editor) & then use hatomugi's skin conditioning milk OR sometimes a face mask bc i collect those like pokemon cards lol. rn i'm using 1 by mediheal that supposedly has placenta in it or something lol but i'm not sure i believe that 100%
oh & i really like mixsoons' bean essence, it's both moisturizing & a really great way to gently exfoliate ur skin. they also sell it in the form of those pre-soaked facial serum pads but those are better 4 moisturizing imo, if u want 2 use it as the exfoliant just buy the straight serum in the bottle.

makeup wise, i wear sunscreen daily bc it's part of my foundation, my go-to is missha no.13 & iirc it has SPF 45++ bc it's a BB cream. recently ive been trying 2 remember 2 take a hat or parasol w/ me on sunny days if im going walking 2 the grocery store or something bc the sun here is so bright that i have gotten sunburned in like under 20 minutes before w/out protection.

i've kinda been interested in red-light therapy masks also but idk anyone who swears by it yet except 4 like...influencers & i think they might just want me 2 use their discount code lol. i'm sort of on the fence as to whether i really believe it makes a difference, need 2 do more research tbh.

this sounds like such a solid routine. korean skincare really does work so good, i swear! that’s literally how i got put onto oil cleansing in the first place and it changed everything for my skin. the oil cleanser took out the sebaceous filaments/blackheads in my nose and it melts my makeup off! also you mentioning bb cream reminded me that i used to wear the maybelline dream pure bb cream with salicylic acid for breakouts and it was sooo good?? it actually helped my acne and still had really nice coverage. i ran out and fully forgot to repurchase it, so thank you for unintentionally reminding me lol. and wait, same about the red light masks! i’ve thought about buying one of those super cheap ones online that have like 7 different colors but i’ve never actually committed. i looked up what all the colors are supposed to do but i can't remember anymore. one day i might try it though.

Korean skincare has better formulas/cleaner ingredient lists most of the time. Also… the best SPFs - always.
My skin type was normal to oily until two years ago, when sensitive got added into the mix.

Make-up remover: Bioderma Sensibio, Beauty of Joseon Cleansing Balm
Cleanser - AM/PM: La Roche Posay Toleriane Gentle Cleanser
I alternate cleansers with Purito Panthenol (I adored the whole range but not so much since they reformulated > especially the face cream), Rhode Pineapple Refresh (kinda stripping on my skin, will not repurchase) & Skin1004 Centella Foam (I love this whole range).
Toner - AM/PM: Tirtir Milky Toner (my fav out of all the milky toners I’ve tried) / HaruHaru Black Rice / Skin1004 Centella / VT PDRN; I also have the Rhode Glazing Milk - I use it mostly on make-up days, it's so and so.
Booster - PM: VT Red Booster 100
Serum/Ampoule - AM: VT PDRN R5 / Skin1004 Centella / Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow; PM: Klairs Midnight Blue Activating Youth Drops / Mac Hyper Real
Cream - AM/PM: Rhode Barrier Butter / VT PDRN
Eye Cream - AM: Chanel Hydra / Estee Lauder Daywear; PM: Medik8 Retinal
I used to love Goodal Green Tangerine but then they reformulated ofc; I also have Purito Wonder Releaf but I don’t grab it that much. I don’t need to target any under eye problems so it’s more about the experience for me.
SPF - AM: Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Sun Serum
Retinal - PM: Medik8 (Some By Mi is one of my fav ones too ^^ @ChelseaD)

Extras:
Face Masks: Abib Heartleaf, Klairs Midnight Blue / Soothing, Torriden Cellmazing (<333), Some By Mi Retinol / Galactomyces Daily Masks (not the biggest fan of the material tho) / Skin1004 Centella, Sungboon Editor Collagen. These are my routine ones - I def recommend trying them ^^
Based on my mood/skin I also get the ones from VT, DR. Jart, Dr. Althea, Mixsoon (Centella/Bifida), Medicube, Mediheal. They are all really good.
Microcurrent Device - I have the Foreo Bear but I can’t keep a routine with it for the life of me. I use it for 5+ days > I see the results > I stop using it… I do love it tho.
Red Light Mask - Same as you @ChelseaD - all the reviews were from influencers and I was way too curious so I ended up buying the CurrentBody one. I did notice brighter, smoother skin with daily use but I always break the routine. I'll let you know in a few years I guess xD
Eye Patches - Cosrx Collagen
Pimple Patches - Purito - literally the only ones that have ever worked for me.
Toner Pads - Anua Hearleaf, Medicube Zero Pore (these messed up my skin barrier :D will not repurchase).

I find skincare easier to figure out but lip care… drives me crazy. My lips are dry 70% of the time and I have tried EVERYTHING but nothing seems to work. I was making fun of Stanley cups and then ended up getting one… at least now I drink SOME water but not nearly enough. No idea if that’s the only reason but ugh.
Same for hair. A love-hate relationship. I also use a bonnet, silk pillowcases and eye mask (only sometimes tho - if light doesn’t get in in the morning, I don’t wake up xD) and I still wake up like I went to war in my sleep. Fine hair and all that.

love that routine, and i also have dry lips most of the time and found that applying hyaluronic acid to my lips and then vaseline over it like 2 times a day is a holy grail

I tried that too. With hyaluronic acid, panthenol and… snail mucin - something about the texture was just screaming “put me on your lips!” But yeah… worth mentioning that I also bite the hell out of them xD

On that note, they really should come out with a safe anti-biting product like they did for nails. I never bit mine but my cousin did - those nail treatments drove him crazy when we were kids.
