I love all 947 of my Secville citizens! I'm actually surprised at how many there are, I expected a lot less Secville peeps based on how many I see in the fourms. Glad to know we're not alone!

With Post #10 still on my mind, your the perfect bimbo to ask this question.

What does 'Secville' as a word,   mean to you?

I sort of explained my Idea's of what a Freethinker is in my previous post, and it got me curious as to your opinion about your State name, if you were to see it for the very first time as a new player. How would you describe the typical Secville'e'an. (sp?grammer?) (Secvillian, looks ominous and scary when I first wrote it.)

I have my Idea, of how I would define the word if presented it as a choice of homes.  I wonder how different our definitions would be. Lets write them blindly to each other via PM, and see.  Don't open mine, till after you write yours.

The same question also applies to all players too. How do you understand your State Name?
I really would love to hear some of your thoughts.  PM me if you don't want to say it publicly.

Abracadabra

When I registered, this is what I at first thought about each state (English not being my first language, or just a lack of knowledge, may have affected my thoughts):

Freethinkerland: for those who allow everything. xD (I probably got it wrong?)
Agnostica: for those who believe that the existence of God (and/or maybe some other stuff) can't be proven.
Antitheocra: for those who are against religions having the power (after I made a quick search and found the word "theocracy").
Reasonotopia: for smart people.
Atheista: for those who don't believe in God or who deny God's existence (could also be about other "supernatural" stuff).
Secville: no idea (still no idea)!

Now I know t
here's more to the states than just their names, but I don't know how much value that other information should be given.

^  The is exactly what I was trying to explain.  I like her idea,  so here is my list:

Freethinkerland: A place for people who believe in freedom of thought and expression.
Agnostica: A place for people who do believe in a higher power, but not a religion.
Antitheocra: for those who are against all religions, and the existence of God in any form as well as out of politics. IE: Secularism
Reasonotopia: A place for intellectuals to gather.
Atheista: For those who don't believe in God or who deny God's existence (could also be about other "supernatural" stuff). Yes I agree with the above posters comment too.
Secville: A tribal community of like minded and socially conscious villagers. ( root word being sect.)

OF the six States, three of them are devoted to a religious point of view.  Leaving the other 3 for a religious player to join.
It is a fair distribution, but I really don't like making boarders based on such thing's as a religious affiliation.   War's start that way.
That's just my opinions about the different States.  There is no wrong answer.

SuperGlamorousGirl!!

You have a good point on the names HLB. When I registered I found all the "A..." states pretty similar (in name, I can't remember now the descriptions) all refering to religion. Then Reasonopia, well, it points out the use of reason! and Freethinkerland the first thing that seemed to me was freedom of speech. Secville, I still don't know lol, but it was my second option, since in the description said it was "the state of artists"

I actually chose Secville because with all the other states I could see what kind of person it made me out to be. All the other states had some sort of obvious statement to it that sort of labeled me. But with Secville I couldn't see that; I decided that with Secville I didn't have a name made for me, I could make my own name. And somehow through that I ended up making the state of Secville what it is now, the state of the Artists. Because one of the first active members and the first state minister for it decided this was the state that didnt define me, I defined it. Its funny how that works out isn't it? haha

What Remi, said is really how I envisioned the State Ministers role to be.  He is defining Secville with his leadership.  Well done.

I was also thinking this morning another reason the anti-religion States draw less, is because a population that is already small to begin with in the Real World, is divided again 3 ways, in Bimbolands.  Where the neutral States, can draw from a very large population pool, and put them in 3 different States in Bimboland's.  The numbers really are beginning to make sense to me the more I think about it.  I wish I was better in maths so I could compare it to real world statistics.
I find the concept of Bimboland's totally fascinating.

The neutral States may as well have been called:
Christiania= Freethinkerland ?  Industrious problem solvers.
Judiaville= ?  Secville - Close Knit communities
Meccinton.= ? Reasonopia - Birth place of Science

Nahhh,  That would match up to closely with actual histories of ancient peoples and lands...
I hope I'm not tapping into the owners devious and brilliant mind with that theory.

Perhaps there should be an X amount of time that one may relocate 1 time for free.  Perhaps tie it to an attribute such as reputation, where once a player is at 500 they have until 800 to move once if they wish (they can always pay to move later again), and it will cost 100% energy and self indulgence for the free move.  Basing it on some attribute means that they will have been in Bimbolands long enough to explore it and not just move on day 2 for the sake of moving, and they can now move without a fee that a lot will take forever to get to in their bank.  Not many are going to put cash up to move. If they put cash up it is going to be to become a senator and buy things before they earn the cash.

I know I read each of the states a bit before selecting, but really you are for the most part just taking a random guess at it.

Research also shows that the natural progression for people taking something in is top left (where Freethinkerland is).  When people are processing things and reading, in English, it is a trained behavior to do this as almost anything you read your entire life starts top-left.  I have worked on various online developments and it is something we always keep in mind. Human nature, for most, is to look center right away (as majority look more towards center for initial visualization), then the vast majority immediately start progressing to the top left.  What is interesting is that no matter where one first looks at an image, especially a screen, the extreme majority start progressing top left after their initial visualization (even if they were looking to the right to start).  Some research has shown that this is starting to somewhat shift, and it is felt that a contributor to this is the placement of the options icon or button on most mobile devices along with tiled displays/icons.

Put it this way, when the majority of people are on a website their natural first instinct is to look top left for options.  You can see that most sites, including here, place those in that location...most do so simply because it is natural to them.

I'm going to see what I can do with this.  It is a really good, and cleaver idea we could use.  Maybe make it fun to move around too.

I think Secville is more to do with the world 'secular' than 'sect'

Secular = "not connected with religious or spiritual matters: Contrasted with sacred."

Sect = "a group of people with somewhat different religious beliefs (typically regarded as heretical) from those of a larger group to which they belong." - Basically a cult
