I’ve been back for a couple days now, and I am here to share the results of the survey i had you take!! Thank you so much to those of you who completed the survey, it gave me a really great insight into what y’all want to see from me :) This post will be a more general post about upcoming changes, and won’t go into detail about the results of each and every question. Here are the basic takeaways:
- Majority want to continue monthly contest suggestion thread
- It’s a pretty even split between wanting contests to be judged by likes VS judged by SM (more on that later)
- Majority want multiple/collaborative/different kinds of contests
- Majority either have no opinion, or do not want to change atheista’s politics (that are within my power to change)
- Majority want more topics/engagement in forums
- Majority want to more pop-ups/notifications
- Majority want to continue weekly updates
And now for the changes I’m going to implement! If you disagree, or have other ideas, please let me know! I want this to be an open discussion about how I can serve you better :)
1) Weekly updates will resume! Expect them to come on monday nights, or tuesdays :D
2) I’ll plan on starting new discussion topics. I’ll also start to award the most active atheistans to encourage more engagement! Each week I’ll give a shout out to active users in the weekly update. At the end of each month, the top 3 Atheistans with the most posts (only in the “Atheista Town Hall” section) will be rewarded! Prizes TBD
3) I’ll be hosting another spirit week this term! I think the last one went really well, I would love to do it again and it looks like you guys do too. Most likely it will take place around the end of february/beginning of march, to help space it out from the last one!
4) The biggest change will come in the formatting of our monthly contests. It’s a pretty even split between how people want the contests to be judged. I also see that you guys want more than just the regular monthly fashion contest. So here’s what I came up with: 2 contests each month, one of them being the normal monthly fashion contest, and one of them being a monthly “SM contest”. The normal monthly contest prizes will consist of chests and diamonds, the theme will be chosen based on the monthly contest suggestion thread, and we will go back to the format of the winners being chosen by likes. That way it feels more like YOUR contest, I’m just the one organizing things. The idea of an SM contest is that it’s less structured, I judge the contest, and the prizes will be more varied (like B$, tokens, tickets, etc). They won’t always be typical fashion contests, and the themes/activities will be chosen by me. The reason why I want to do things this way is that A) we’re one of the bigger/more active states, so two contests seems perfectly doable and B) it seems like a good compromise based on the survey. I hope this all makes sense, I’m excited to try it out!!!
