I have noticed upon entering contests that rely on voting to determine winners that it is truly not the way. The past contest I entered basically gave the winning prize to who submitted first and the current contest I have entered is having people throw dislikes around like candy.

So I decided to make this thread offering solutions...

We can keep the likes and dislikes but not have it be a factor in determining winners. Winners should be chosen by members of the pink house such as Mawesmazing (our minister of foreign affairs) who can post them to social media and of course even Miss Bimbo who can provide some kind of genuinity.

Come on ladies let's raise our standard and spread common sense and love. <3

I would even throw in the fact that we should have "volunteers" create banners for all participants to keep contests exciting for all.

Love you ladies, please leave your comments and reactions below.

The host decides how they want the winner to be determined. There are those who like to judge themselvs or judge together with some other players. And then there are those who let it be determined by upvotes.
If you don't like that winners are chosen by upvotes don't enter those contests.

So far almost all contests have had banners. If someone didn't make banners sometimes it was probably an exception.
Hosts make banners and hosts can decide how the voting is going to be. After all, host gives prizes. Having volunteers for making banners would hardly work. Making them can take quite a time, so it wouldn't be Ok to overload someone with such kind of job. Also, host may decide whether or not there will be banners. They can also decide if there will be banners for all participants, or only for winners, or winners and honorable mentions. It is all in hosts discretion.

I have noticed upon entering contests that rely on voting to determine winners that it is truly not the way. The past contest I entered basically gave the winning prize to who submitted first and the current contest I have entered is having people throw dislikes around like candy.

If the current contest you are talking about is mine, then I can point you to the first post where it is stated clearly how winners are going to be picked. There will be winners chosen by public and winners chosen by me (no matter of the upvotes and downvotes).

the first who post will always get the most visibility, i think a way to have all entries next to one another would be a bit more fair

Yes, indeed. I noticed the same pattern. It quite often that first page entries have most reactions at average, then the last page entries, and those in the middle less. It's not the rule but is quite often. Probably because visitors either go to the first page first or to the last page.

The same thing was happening when we had unofficial polls for PBFC. It was before voting system was fixed and Kirsty used to make these polls. Quite often first entry had the most votes and second and third used to follow. Then she changed it and broke it into a few smaller polls with less entries.

The thing is, not everyone goes through each page or scroll the poll to the bottom. Guess that's the thing that hosts don't really expect, thinking everyone would like to see all entries and vote for these they like :)
