The fish sauce, which is by description quite awful (fermented anchovy in soy) is what makes it so special. And the crunch of the bean sprouts goes so well with the noodles and broth. Did your phò have beef or pork or shrimp or chicken? Or albondigas? Or was it a 'let's put everything together' soup? It is too soon for me to be thinking of soups for winter. Creme of squash, creme of boletus, creme of Alicia...easy to prepare and quite delcious and warming. Phò should also be simple to make,but requires so many special ingredients that then sir forever lost in the cabinet. Lemon grass, sweet and dark soya sauces, fish saue, mirin and sambal oelek. Who can keep them in a small kitchen not dedicated to Asian cuisine.

I had a vietnamese dish before that had fish sauce in it...at first I didn't want to try it because I didn't like the sound of it but my friend convinced me to try it!! I had Pho with beef today but I think I will try chicken next time. Wow your descriptions made me really hungry again! I do have lemon grass and soy sauce, I once bought fish sauce as well. But I have a one room apartment with a tiny kitchen so there's little space to actually store ingredients. But i might look into some recipes to try and make my own Pho one day :)

Try pad thai. It is easier to make than phô and nearly as good. The difficult ingredient to find is tamarind paste.

All with pumpink
A packet of salt and vinegar crisps for breakfast, followed by houmous and flatbread for lunch and pasta with spinach, garlic and herbs for dinner
Also after work, snacked on some pumpkin seeds freshly roasted from the pumpkin my boyfriend and I carved yesterday. Sadly the pumpkin itself is starting to turn a little rotten

I made some hoisin duck wraps and I've had a few pieces of fruit. I've started eating loads of chocolate too.....gosh I'm such a piggy haha!
