Hello Xitizens!!! I am making this post to bring attention to a forgotten Ximboland trend that I love and miss dearly: Weird GIF Wednesday.
What is Weird GIF Wednesday? Also called "WGW" for short, this trend was popular with Ximbos before around 2020. It was a tradition where every Wednesday, players would go around posting funny, strange, surreal, or otherwise "weird" GIFs in each others profile comments. It was also customary to say something along the lines of "Happy Weird GIF Wednesday!" in your comment as well.
What makes a GIF "Weird"? Well, that's mostly up to you! Weird GIFs come in all shapes and sizes. Animations, photo manipulation, and just plain ol' bizarre videos are all fair game for Weird GIFs. They can be hilarious, strange, unexpected, shocking, or wild. Though it is important to note that point of a Weird GIF is to spread happiness, so heavy or negative material is a no-no. Weird GIFs do not jumpscare, do not show disasters or tragedies, and do not make fun of others. I have filled this post with a variety of Weird GIF examples for you to get an idea of what the tradition embodied.
Why was Weird GIF Wednesday so great? Well, it facilitated community of course! I think WGW was a fun way to connect with others. Whether you were saying "hi" to an old friend or breaking the ice with new people, the weekly posting spree was a fun and easy way to put yourself out there in a lighthearted and friendly manner. And for Duelers, it boosted stats! Who doesn't want to increase their comments added/received and perhaps better face your dueling foes?
How can you help bring back Weird Gif Wednesday? By posting some Weird GIFs with me every Wednesday! I will start participating in the trend this Wednesday and all the foreseeable Wednesdays to come. I will also be hosting a community event focused on bringing the trend back all throughout May. For those players most dedicated to reviving WGW with me, you can guarantee yourself a payday of 250 Diamonds! I will be paying everyone who fulfills the following requirements:
- First, you must commit to participating in the event by posting in this thread. It doesn't matter what you say - if you want, you can just post a Weird GIF! Anyone who comments in this thread will be considered "signed up" to participate.
- Next, you must comment at least ten (10) Weird GIFs on other players pages every Wednesday in May. Guide to posting images and GIFs here. You can post the same GIF on multiple people's pages, but it is general practice to choose a different GIF each week. You must post the GIFs sometime between 0:00AM and 11:59PM Wednesday Ximboland Time (May 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29). You must include the phrase "Happy Weird GIF Wednesday" in the comment alongside your GIF for it to count. You can leave Weird GIFs on more than 10 players pages, but only 10 are required per week to receive the reward.
If you can fulfill these three requirements, you are guaranteed a 250 Diamond payday on June 1. I really do miss this tradition, I thought it was so unique to our community and I'd like to see it return! I hope that I can spark it's revival, even if it takes more events like this in the future.
