Hi all! Some weird and somewhat surprising news for those who haven’t noticed yet. The next SM election is on June 15th…?? Apparently SM elections will be on the 15th every 3 months going forward, so keep that in mind.
With that said, I won’t be running for re-election this time. That’s not to say I wouldn’t consider running again in the future, but with the current state of the site, my time availability, and my finances, it’s just not viable. I have absolutely adored being an SM and it is sad to leave (for now, at least), but for a variety of reasons it’s just the right choice for me.
I’m sure many of you have noticed the behavior of the site owner and I just want to say outright that my choice not to run again is directly related to that. I no longer want to financially support someone who treats his dedicated volunteers and passionate userbase like this.
He’s repeatedly thrown a wrench in the activities of users and volunteers and threatened to fire the current shop workers and designers because he thinks we’re “lazy….” as if we even get paid in the first place! Besides, over four thousand items have been uploaded to the shop by myself and the other shop workers since the beginning of February, so…. needless to say, as long as he’s acting like this, I’m not interested in contributing to the site financially. I mean, the man put our last amazing SM, Melpomene, on trial for "bad fashion"!! WTF!! Anyway.
I was made a shop worker in mid-February and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to help bolster the shop both uploading and designing clothing and I intend to continue doing that. but to be honest, being both an SM and shop worker at the same time has (in my opinion) made my SM activities less consistent, and you all deserve better! Shop Worker is a very time and effort-intensive job on its own.
As for elections, though:
If anyone is interested in the position of Antitheocra SM, please feel free to message me to learn more! I will pass on my current comment advert list and birthday board records to the next SM and can help you get started. If you don’t know this already, SMs pay out of pocket for the diamonds and other prizes they give away in contests, so if you decide to run just be prepared for that. You will also have to be a Senator for the entirety of your term.
Regarding known candidates, current MoFA Katrynah is running and you should expect to see his program sometime in the next few days. He’ll probably link it below if you want to subscribe to this thread! I co-hosted the February Antitheocra contest with him, Office Vixens, and he also ran an all-state surprise birthday contest for me in April. I just want to put a word out for him because I know he will be an active and passionate SM if elected (and is particularly enthusiastic about State Wars if that happens to occur at any point during the next term LOL). Unlike with the shop worker position, MoFA and SM would actually work fine as an overlap (and he has to be a Senator to be a government minister anyway).
I’m also not sure if anyone else is interested in running, but if you are, don’t be discouraged by the existence of another candidate!! DM me for more info if you’d like and I’d encourage you to write up a program to post in Antitheocra Town Hall sooner rather than later so people can see it. As the elections get much closer I can also make another popup with all the current known Antitheocra candidates if that’s something you all want!
Final Thoughts:
I am super sad to step down. I thought I’d be in this for the long run and it’s a shame things have come to this, but I don’t want to get involved in another term while myself, my fellow volunteers, and the users are being so deeply disrespected by the owner of the site and others involved in making sure the user experience is as unpleasant as possible (you know who you are). I’ve really given my all to this site, many weeks of the last two terms putting in full time work hours totally unpaid to run events, contests, and upload clothes. I really, really love Bimboland and this is a bittersweet and difficult decision for me but I think the right one.
However, should I have any extra time in the next few months… who knows, might be time to run Art Fight again…!!
Also, yes, there will be one more fashion contest this term, so look out for that sometime in the next day (hopefully in the next few hours, actually).
