Book or screening? What do you choose first? Why?

I can't tell that it's always on one way. It depend.
When book was first I tray to first get book. Sometimes it will work.
When I can't get book for long time, or my friend all the time says "You must see it!, You must!... I go watch with her. :)

I always like to read the book first. The book always have greater detail than a movie because the move can only be a certain amount of time. An author can spend ten pages on the description of a woman's hair..or the taste of food.

Books all the way!
Reading books lets you take things at your own pace (I know you can pause, rewind and fast-forward movies as well, I just think it's way easier not to get confused when you're reading words on a page), immerse yourself in the story and imagine things the way you want to. Watching movies is way more passive (and boring, to me.)
Another advantage of reading the book before watching the movie is that it can help you understand what's going on in the movie way better. A lot of times some details are left out of the script (or portrayed in really subtle ways that you often don't catch unless you're looking for them or rewatching the movie for the third or fourth time) and that can make the situation pretty confusing; if you already know what's supposed to happen then it's easier to figure out what's going on.

Wow, I took a break from this site for a while and came back to even more of a dumpster fire than I left months ago. I'm deleting my account. Maybe I'll come take a look again some day and make a new one if the site gets better, maybe I won't, who knows. Just felt like leaving a little goodbye note in case anyone still remembers me and wonders why I deleted my account.

I think if you watch the movie first it might cut off any chance of putting time into reading the book. I know for me personally if I watch the movie first I'm less likely to ever try to read the book just because the whole plotline is spoiled.

I like both for different reasons but i usually try to read the book first unless i think for some reason i won't get through it.
Though most of the time it's easier for me to watch the movie first and quicker.
Also i hardly read much anymore even though i used to be a huge book worm sometimes getting through a whole book in a day.

I'd choose books because I find the descriptions and details interesting.
I also think that books contain what the originally the author wanted to say whereas the movies have many differences.

In general, I prefer to read the book. I read a review of the 'novelization' of The Lord the Rings. The reviewer said, that while he liked the book, there was an obvious character (Tom Bombadil) that had been written for Robin Williams, but was cut from the film. Made me laugh.

I prefer books. But both ways work for me: sometimes I see a cool movie based on a book, and then I want to read it; sometimes I read a book and want to watch the movie, so the characters or scenario makes more sense in my head.
