Thanks for the opportunity, I had fun with this theme! I am going to be studying my opponents and training to musical montages for next year if the prizes are anywhere near this good again.

In general, the likes awarded to posts by other players do not weigh much into the decision of winners. (Except if there is a "Popularity" category, which is decided entirely by likes. Many contests have one, though this one does not appear to.) This is because likes are heavily influenced by irrelevant factors such as when the post was made and who made it. People are more likely to vote for posts that are the earliest participants on the thread or at the top of the subsequent pages because those are often the first thing that comes up when the thread is opened. Statistically the most liked entry of contest is almost always one of the first three entries in any given contest nearly irregardless of the quality. Also, something like linking to an entry instead of displaying it as an image is going to mean less likes overall because of the added hurdle of having to open something. People are also more likely to vote for their friends and might avoid voting for people they don't like to avoid supporting them. So overall the player votes are not the greatest measure of success from an organizer perspective.
What does determine the winner then? Every organizer (and competition) is likely to have slightly different perimeters, which vary situationally. As someone who had held competitions before, the things I generally paid attention to were things like uniqueness, cohesiveness, aesthetic appeal, and how well the entry succeeded in incorporating the theme. In some competitions there are multiple judges and sometimes the judging process involves numerical scores, though that is unlikely in the case of this particular contest. It somewhat subjective but better than just popularity voting
